Hello Folks

I'm a marketing manager in Dubai. Just signed up to this great forum and would love to share my knowledge and experience ad answer all of your questions about the Middle Eastern markets.

I'm about to make a marketing plan for selling dates fruit, you can learn about this fruit buzzle.com/articles/date-fruit-benefits.html

The main target is to have a share in 3 major new markets for us
  • Indonesia: 204,847,000 Muslims
  • India: 177,286,000 Muslims
  • China: 23,308,000 Muslims + a major market for re-exporting in Asia
And that's before reaching the holy month of Ramadan en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ramadan when Muslims tend to buy dates in big amounts.

There is more than 130 types of dates, 85% of the are grown in the Middle East and only few types are available the mentioned 3 countries.

I'm looking for B2B marketing ideas with a total budget of 10,000 US Dollars.

Already made an account for placing selling leads and targeting buying leads on
  • alibaba.com: Most visited B2B portal in China and Indonesia
  • indiamart.com: Most visited B2B portal in India
I'm thinking about starting an online ad campaign on
  • Google AdWords for Indonesia and India
  • Baidu for China
  • Linkedin
I will just give it a try as I don't know how to target industry professionals on these platforms

What other tools and ideas I should consider to develop this campaign?

Thanks in advance folks ^^,

Just wanted to share and advise that I've received from a friend mine who said "Your focus on fresh dates may be too narrow. Food manufacturers need to put more dates in cakes, granola bars, baked goods - sell to manufacturers!"

Indeed! this is a great idea, can you guys please suggest any communication channels/tools/services to reach the market aside from B2B marketplaces and online ad campaigns?

Get a domain with the appropriate extension for the country you need to market to. If its India I think extension is .in. Then build out a site. Research what extensions are used in those countries and build out different websites for each country.

Thank you TrafficBot, this idea is going to be on the top of my to-do list, it really helps my website to show up on local search engines.. thumbs up

Do you think redirecting all domains to one website is a good idea or shall I create a separate website with the same content to each domain?

Four things I think you want to sort out if you are developing a marketing plan:

    • Value proposition: what is your core value proposition? How does this align with your company's values? For example, if you want to be a low cost player this is different than being the best tasting or whatever. Make sure you can communicate this value proposition effectively.
    • Data: what evidence do you have to support your value proposition? Do you have customer references? Scientific data supporting that your fruits are particularly tasty/cost effective/healthy/whatever
    • Market plan: What's your target market? Does your target market align with your value proposition, i.e. is their pain point/need something that your particular product solves?
    • Goals: you've started this process already - with targeted ads on well known websites. If you are just getting started might make sense to have targeted ads on smaller, niche sites focused on your business as they might be cheaper and target a specific audience.
