How do you manage all social networking sites?

I have been reading that you don't just want to make generic posts on social networking sites. So how do you post original comments on Facebook, Twitter, MySpace. etc on a consistent basis?

It seems like it would be a full-time job just to keep up with that.

This all depends what your objective is.

If you're promoting your business and using these media to establish your expertise and share market knowledge then it's not crazy to spend some time making full use of these media in order to communicate with your market.

If you have no special reason to use this mechanism and you're looking for reasons to use it - it might be best to forget about them and just focus on what you do know will help your business.

I like Twitter because I travel a lot and it's an easy to chat to people in different time zones without any hassles, but although I have over 2000 followers - I don't use it as a place to promote my stuff. Most of my messages are replies to others or comments about what I'm up to. That might sound like a waste of time, but I had dinner with Mark Joyner because I was on Twitter at the right time when he was visiting Singapore, and many of my IM friends also use it to share what they're up to so I find out about things I'd never find in a forum or by tracking their websites/ezines.

Facebook is similar for me - My family are scattered around the world and because I travel it's a great way for me to see the pictures from my nephews rugby games and keep in touch with some old friends and IMers.

If you're struggling to justify the time on these systems you probably don't need them.

It's easy to feel like you're missing out when you have so many IMers trying to sell products on how to use these things to make money, but the truth is - you don't NEED to care about any of them, and if you think you do but don't know why - you probably don't.

    Hi Andy

like you i too have become involved in the twitter thing. I use it for business and pleasure and get a lot more respect because of this. Im just this one that just goes on their to promote their products. I do promote and when i do i get an awful amount of hits that create sales and new members on my ezine.

im trying to get into other social sites but nothing just yet!

I have tried some social networking and have found some good information, but as i work full time offline, the time needed to build my online business is limited and the social networks i am a part of demand a lot of my time. Is there some way around this what are the social network site submitters??? Or am i talking about the wrong thing

MINIMUM: Develop a spreadsheet (with usernames/passwords) and a checklist of tasks.

SUGGESTED: Develop a database (even a simple Access database) with all your usernames/passwords and your checklist. A database would help you track all your activities and results.

PREFERRED: Develop an online 'system' based on your database. Build in programming logic that makes your checklist activities... random.

    Hope this helps!
