What kind of graphics should I have on a squeeze page?

Well, you don't need anything, but I think for the most part some kind of visual break from the text is good. It makes the page easier to read and less intimidating of there is a lot of content.

Of course this will differ from niche to niche, etc.

Every squeeze page I've ever seen has been super ugly so I guess do what you can to make it ugly.

Think cheesy web 2.0 gradients and reflections. Big bold red type. Stock photos that look like stock photos.

I've never sold products but I'm guessing it works. So do what other people do, and make it ugly.

I think most of what you mention here is true, but you see it a lot, because it works a lot :p

In those rare cases where I am still feeling lazy enough to use a squeeze page,
I don't use any pictures-- Nothing to distract from the one and only goal,
getting them to opt-in.

Of course, if I was in a photography niche, that might change...

I seem to remember some of the big internet marketing gurus say pages seem to do better with very plain style - little or no graphics. I suppose that's true, since there would be less distractions.
