Hi everyone,

I'm seriously considering having a contest in May to build my list for my niche site blog (MikeFromMaine.com). I am thinking about giving away a niche site or a couple of sites. Do you think this is a good idea? If so, what do you think the monthly income of the sites I give away should be? I wrote a post about it HERE.

I was thinking that a site making $10/month has a Flippa value of $100-$150 (10-15X monthly income)...maybe that would be a good prize...what do you think?

I think it's an ok idea, because having a site requires both time and money, and I know from survey data from my own lists, most people don't even have a self hosted website.

So I think it would be putting an extra burden on them.

    Just my thoughts.

      Thanks for the input.

A hosting account only costs $5/month (hatchling hostgator). So if someone without hosting won the contest they would at least be making an extra $5/month passive income. Plus, they could build on an already successful site.

On top of the giveaway, I was planning on teaching people (for free) how to make successful niche sites.

So would a $10/month site be enough to sign up for a list and share with your friends one facebook/twitter????
