I use a free service called vokle.com and I love it.

Can you stream your Mac desktop playing a Keynote (like Powerpoint) slide presentation with video embedded in some of the slides with Vokle?

I have never heard of Vokle but Ustream is great. The adds are annoying but you get what you pay for

Got any ideas how I could use Ustream to stream my desktop that is playing a Powerpoint presentation and then come in after the 1 hour Powerpoint presentation and do a live question and answer session?

Can you block the ads using the Ad Blocker plugin for your browser?

Sure you can. You could use third-party software that mimics a camera driver like ManyCam. (You could set different sources like movie file, actual desktop, or actual Videocam).

Once you set it up, you could use ustream to broadcast using ManyCam as your source camera. (You could prerecord the presentation in a movie so that it will not be seen by your channel visitors)

          Hope it helps.

I didn't know about ManyCam but it looks pretty cool - thanks for mentioning it!

Why don't you use Google Hangouts and YouTube...

You can embed it on any site and stream live.

    Cheers,

Ultimately this is what I want to do...

-Stream a pre-recorded but but very live appearing PowerPoint presentation at a scheduled time that will run 60 to 90 minutes to anyone I give the link to. I don't want limits on the number of attendees. I was thinking I could stream this live with something similar to Ustream from my desktop but I don't want ads and I don't want attendees to see how many others are viewing the video and I don't want attendees to see comments from others. Instead of something like Ustream that would stream live from my desktop I'm also thiing of using Mike Filsaimes EBS for this pre-recorded part.

-At the end of that pre-recorded (but live appearing) Powerpoint presentation I will announce that I will now answer their questions.

-Then as seamlessly as possible I need to appear live to answer their questions. I'm not sure how to do this if I use Filsaimes EBS though?? Again, its important that attendees can NOT see how many others are viewing my presentation and I don't want them to see or hear questions/comments from others.

Lastly, I don't want to be locked into any monthly recurring fees for any of this like I would be with Gotowebinar or a similar service.

I'm open to any suggestions you guys might have for doing this please.

      Thanks

      Steve

  • Twitch.tv is free, mostly for gaming but you'll get away with most things
