INTERNET MARKETING

I am sure Camtasia is good but I don't want to spend $300. Anyone have a fave cheap alternative?

Also, I am wondering how people produce presentations like this...

If you click to kill the page, a message pops up "This page is asking you to confirm that you want to leave - data you have entered may not be saved." If you click on "Stay on page," it displays the verbatim script of the video and any associated graphics. I see this type of presentation constantly in the investment world.

Rats, a few years ago, I somehow got a bargain version of an older Camtasia, but can't find it. What's the latest-greatest?

Camstudio is a free alternative.

The pop up message is done with Javascript.

There are some excellent, free online screen-recording services. Personally I like Screenr at Screenr | Instant screencasts: Just click record

The one drawback with this type of service is that you can't edit your video. But for a quick and simple video it's fine. And if you go wrong, you can always try again until you're happy!

camtasia is so much easier to use than some of the other options I have used and the quality is a lot better. It is cheaper to buy if you own a mac.

I use Camtasia 7 however Camstudio is a great free alternative. Both take a while to get used to using as expected lol

I have Camtasia for Mac, and Screenflow too.

However, most of the time I just use Jing: Jing, screenshot and screencast software from TechSmith

Because:

* I a tendency to go on and on -- Jing's screencasts must be under five minutes;

* I like to tinker, and the full programs encourage this tendency -- with Jing, I just do it.

Jing is perfect for obsessives and anyone who over-thinks things. I used to have Pro subscription, but the free version is fine.

Jing means I just DO IT. :-)

If it's just for screen capture videos and not editing then you cant beat bb flashback express, it's free and a million times better than cam studio. I used it for my last WSO and the results were great!

camstudio and camtasia work best for us. The funny thing is the more people whinge and whine about video and how annoying it is, the better it has been working for us.

Just think of the time people spend watching stupid videos and viral videos on YOUTUBE, video is not dying at all people.

Check out screen cast o matic. It is free and is pretty good except for the watermark with the free version. If you upgrade (one time fee of $19 I think) then you get high quality video shots and it's really easy to use.

Why not try Jing. It's a user friendly, free and easy to download. I just learned this from my boss, lots of them were using it in giving demos because its fast and easy sharing.

FYI, I believe Jing has recently been replaced with Snagit 11 which now does video.

I tried several different recording softwares recently including Camtasia. I really liked the one by Blueberry Software called BB Flashback.

As others have said, Camstudio is good. Make sure you download their codec too though. Microsofts codec is rubbish, but there's is pretty good.

I recommend something called animoto.com . It is free for videos of under 30 seconds and it operates by membership, does not cost too much. I get all my videos from animoto and they work out fine and perfect, I really love it.

As for the leave page/ stay page thing, I suggest you ignore it and create OTO(one time offer) instead. You can sell more of your products or affiliate products and generate more sales really easy and fast !!

I have Camtasia.. but because of a windows issue that their support has not been able to solve, I've had to shelve it on my desktop.

So I did some digging and last week found http://screencast-o-matic.com/

Works like a gem.. free version and pro version.. but even the pro is only $12 a year!!

Cant beat that for a very good product. Wish I hand't already spent the bucks on camtasia last year.

Honestly, you get what you pay for.

I use Camtasia and it is by far a superior screen capture program.

It is feature rich and gives you lots of flexibility with the use of call outs, creating titles and transitions.

you can add two different audio tracks. It has some basic audio software built in to clean up the audio or just use fade ins and fade outs...

A free alternative may be: Windows live movie maker. While you cannot do a "live" capture, you could put together a bunch of slides or screen shots and load them into movie maker. You could then record your audio with audacity and import the audio into Movie Maker.

Instant screen capture movie.

Here is another tip: if you can find your "free version" of Camtasia (I assume it was legal), Tech Smith will allow you to upgrade that version to Cam 7 for $150.

A few years ago Camtasia gave away free copies of Cam 3. I was able to upgrade directly from that Version of Camtasia for $150.

  I recommend Snagit for fast screen captures (no editing capabilities) and Camtasia Studio for highest quality. The presentation video you saw was made with Powerpoint and Camtasia Studio.
