Traffic suddenly shot up for no known reason?

Hi All
I have a question on a weird situation I have.

I purchased a logo design site off Flippa www.companylogodesign.org.uk about 12 months ago, but have had to put it on the back boiler because of other commitments.
It was ranked number 4 on page 1 Google.co.uk for main keyword (company logo design) but had dropped back to page two since I have done nothing to it since purchasing.
About a week ago the traffic started going through the roof for no apparent reason (a good problem to have).
I did purchase a few back links either here or on Fiverr about 3-4 months ago but that's it and that was a one off.
Traffic for the past 6 months has been about 10 visitors a day on average, then about a week ago traffic shot up as shown below.
8/4/12 - 8 visitors
9/4/12 - 9 visitors
10/4/12 - 26
11/4/12 - 29
12/4/12 - 31
13/4/12 -35
14/4/12 - 37
15/4/12 - 68
16/4/12 -133
17/4/12 - 327
18/4/12 - 387
19/4/12 - 580
20/4/12 - 577

The site is now number 1 page 1 google.co.uk, as mentioned I have not really done anything for this to change that much except those few backlinks.
Reported local searches for the keyword is only 6,600 per month, but it is nowhere to be found on Google.com for same keyword, so can't be global hits affecting it. Analytics is showing 82% traffic is from UK.

As I said I am not complaining but just wondering if anyone has experienced similar weird rank/traffic jump, or may know why it has happened.
I'm reasonably new to IM so not really sure why it's happened. Obviously now at position 1 will make a big difference but 500+ hits a day is going to be way over what the local monthly searches should be for that keyword.

I'm also not seeing any increase in orders either which seems even more strange, saying that, I was only getting one order every few months even when it was ranked on page one getting 30-40 hits a day, but found out later seller of site was getting most of his sales through things like Craigslist and similar paid ads (I think he saw me coming )

Hope someone can shed some light.

Regards and Thanks
Joner

yes, I was checking stats on a new site I was working on when I noticed another site also went up in 7 keywords and traffic has increased.

It had increased the other day too but not this much.

The weird thing is I'm getting more traffic from Google, Bing and Yahoo.

Same thing happened to me with wordbuzzmarketing com and I did nothing either... I later found out that the reason behind this is because another company wanted to promote that site and they have a lot of members.

I don't see anything unusual here. Yes, you received an upsurge of traffic from the 15th to the 18th and 19th months. What I see is a site that you developed through consistent, hard work. Your traffic patterns are reward for your work.

    Congratulations.

It's what you do when no one is watching
that determines what you will be able to
    do when everyone is watching.

    Hi David
15th-19th are days in April this year (English date format).
I wish I could take the credit for hard work but as mentioned I have not really done anything to the site in 11 months except buy a few backlinks as a one off. No new content or anything.
    Weird

This is the time frame where a whole bunch of sites disappeared from the Google search. You are probably benefiting from traffic that the other sites lost.

Weird, maybe it has something to do with previous backlinking (or any other efforts/actions) done by the previous owner.

    Anyways, can't complain!

Yes, me too have experienced this. My traffic was 520 UV/day at best, but now it's 620 - 760 in average since March 26th. Maybe Google secretly changed its algorithm again?
