While I'm doing keyword research today, I noticed the site that ranked in #1 rank have some links under them. I provide the images on sample keywords.

With that links, Is it means "I'm a tough guy, You can't beat me!" type of thing?

For those who cant see the images:

If they have quality backlinks then yes it can mean "I'm a tough guy, You can't beat me!" type of thing!

From what I've learned, there are quality backlinks also known as juice links, and there are junk links. So you could look at the backlinks on the number one site and it might have 1000,000 links but only 2 might be juice links. So they may be easy to knock off the number one spot if you build quality links to your site.

Page rank is another factor to consider when assessing competition.

I am assuming there was meant to be an image in your post?

    It didn't show up.

All pages that are #1 will have some backlinks pointing to them (if this is indeed what you mean)

It doesn't mean "I'm a tough guy, You can't beat me!", it simply means "I'm a tough guy, You can beat me with better links, better onpage structure and SEO, and better traffic response!"

Those links means Google see them as an authority website, but it doesn't mean you can't became one as well.
Check what they do and just do better (how many links they have, quality of links, social media signals).
Now, when you have this matrix of the top 10 sites infront of you, the question if to start competing or not is a question of how much time you are willing to spend and what are your resources...
