Re-write/Edit Site Content - What happens?

Hi

If I were to substantially re-write articles, content and so on on my site (to improve the quality of the content etc) including adding extra images with appropriate tags where there currently aren't any...

what would be the like outcome? would I lose ranking for some reason?

or when re-crawled by the Google bots would they like it and increase my scores?

what about changing titles, headers, tags and any other stuff?

I am talking about going through every post to upgrade the content to make the whole site "higher quality" in terms of it's content.

What about increasing the length of posts? They are all 300 to 500 words currently (main body of text) but what would happen if I lengthen them?

Your comments are appreciated

If you replace it or rewrite it with quality content then you should get 100% higher rankings. Like Google said "Content is king".

Every article needs to be within the 1000+ word range. That takes you from the amateur blogger into an authority on what you're writing.

Does your content already have traffic coming in? Have you done massive backlinking yet?

If you're not having traffic nor links, then rewriting it should be OK. If you do, though, I'd consider just adding higher-quality content to the site. If you just rewrite, old posts and pages will keep their publication date. Adding new content, however, will show Google that the site is still alive and that you're adding newer and better content to the site.

I have minimal traffic and backlinking right now (yet I already rank in the top 60 for my KWs which are quite competitive) and I am planning to add a lot more content in the coming weeks

Yes, I want it to be more authoritative content so I can safely increase my word count then? Cool, that means I can increase the quality of the writing style too.

So, I can edit & add length to the existing posts to improve them to increase the whole quality of the site. Excellent, it is already quite nice anyway so this will just help even more

      thanks for the reply

Yeah, your rankings will certainly improve, plus you'll improve the user experience, which is a must if you want to stay at the top.

I like to get the job done the first time, but if it's an Amazon or Clickbank site, then rewriting and improving some of your content is a good strategy.

    Cheers,
    Ray

      Yes thanks

I am looking to re -write all the posts to improve and I might outsource it if I can find good people to write / edit whilst I do new stuff

Any idea what a good word count should be? 1000 to 2000 depending on the amount to be covered in the post?

I guess I should check some top ranking competitors huh?
