Camtasia Tutorial - "Using Lower Thirds"

Hi Warriors,

I did a video tutorial for one of my members showing him how to create and use a "lower third" graphic in his Camtasia videos.

A lower third is an image that sits at the bottom of a video and contains a message such as a web address, contact info, presenter name and/or title, call to action or whatever.

I thought some might find it useful:

Thanks for the great tutorial Lon. I've used Camtasia for a while now and have always wondered how I can improve the visual affects to give a more professional presentation. Your tutorial hit the spot!

Lon your video was downright scary to me. I'm so techie challenged I still don't know how to put the toilet seat down and I'm just a few days short of being 66 years old.

But your video made sense to me and that's why it was so scary. Now I have to figure out how to open Camstasia. :p

As far as "watermarks" go, I'm actually not a big fan of them. Here's why:

Watermarks, or "bugs" as their smaller cousins are called, are mostly used to prevent pirating. Major TV networks, big corporate videos protecting branding that costs them millions of dollars...that kind of thing.

For most purposes, I'll say again that they are mostly just distracting and, unless done REALLY well, come off looking amateurish and usually gaudy.

Are we generally that worried that someone is going to "steal" our video? And even if they do...will a watermark help? Will a viewer be somehow compelled to enter in that web address and end up at OUR site instead?

Not very likely...

A few well placed lower thirds...together with an opening splash clip and closing call to action or ending clip will look better, serve the same purpose, and leave the viewers with a much greater appreciation for our professionalism.
