Default Adsense displaying WordPress ads - is there a cure?

Does anyone know if there's a way to get Adsense to cotton on quicker to the fact that WordPress-based sites aren't usually about WordPress?

Whenever I create such a site, all the ads usually display just fine, apart from any image ads on the front page. Nine times out of ten these will display ads for WordPress stuff, even though mentions of 'WordPress' are kept to the bare minimum in the page source code, whereas the actual subject of the site is mentioned many times over. I'm sure Artisteer etc do very well out of this, but it's starting to do my nut in

I don't mind so much for the sites I intend keeping as I know Adsense gets the idea eventually, but for sites that I've built and would like to flip within a day or so, irrelevant ads that are staring out of the page aren't very enticing. I know it's a fairly common thing though - has anyone found a cure?

You should put this code in the sections/text you like Adsense to target on:

<!-- google_ad_section_start -->

YOUR CONTENT SHOULD BE HERE

<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

Thanks, Mark. I'm already doing that - I think Google reads my code upside down

Diana,

Are you hosting these sites on wordpress, or on your own servers?

I have been using wordpress for years, and so far have always had them serve up ads based on my content.

Have a great day.

These are self-hosted sites, Twenty. It doesn't happen every time, just enough to be annoying I thought it might be theme-related, but experiments with a small-ish variety of them indicate that's got nothing to do with it as far as I can see. The mighty G moves in mysterious ways, it's blunders to perform...
