Question for WP 2.6 users please

I can't seem to find a specific setting to turn off duplicate content on the front page of my blog. It is showing the same post descriptions of the recent posts. One for the main, and one for new posts if that makes sense.

My question can I turn off some setting in my backend or is this part of the template itself?

If I can do it thru the backend, what setting am I looking for, and where is it in 2.6 version?

Thanks ... lol it's been some time since I put up a new WP blog, and can't seem to find the settings and stuff in the usual places.

    Mary,

    I'm not 100% sure I understand correctly...

The way I'm visualizing it is that it is displaying the same blog entry blurbs multiple times on the front page. Like this:

    -Business News-

    Post 1
    Blurb of post 1....

    -Financial News-

    Post 1
    Blurb of post 1....

If this is the case then your problem is the cat#'s in the home.php template file

If this problem sounds correct let me know and I'll walk you through fixing it.

If you are speaking of the name and shame wall site then you will need to edit the template.

It looks as if you do not want the recent posts to show in the side bar of the front page. If that is the case I would venture to say the template would need editing.

        Hey Michael,

I only have 1 category posted. Shannon has the corect blog so you can see first hand. I just didn't want to post it directly.

Thanks though for trying to help.

        Shannon,

No, it's not the recent posts in the sidebar that I want gone, it's on the main body of the index page. If you look at the black box with the featured post in it, then look right beneath it and the posts, you will see what I am talking about.

The permalink is green if that will help point it out easier.

I've never come across that before with a theme or WP.

        Is this the template too?

Thanks for your help guys ...

Thanks for the clarification. This is what I thought - I just failed to articulate it correctly. I'm going to download the theme now and go through the home.php file and tweak it to your needs.

            Michael,

Oh wow, that would be kind of you!

            Now that was very thoughtful.

            Thanks

              Hi Mary...

If my knowledge serves me correctly, and it occasionally doesn't...

The heading in Green is the actual post page link.. and the one below it in red is in the featured post bar...

Which of these would you like to remove?....

I do see what you're trying to do, but the posts you wish to remove are the actual posts in the theme, because it's a magazine theme...

The ones below it in red are the featured posts.... I will take a look at the theme in one of my WP installations and get back to you asap (sunday lunch with Mother In Law may loom), but I'll be as quick as I possibly can

                    Hey Jay,

Hmm ... it may be that there needs to be more posts added before everything will show up correctly or something.

I see what you are saying with it being a magazine type theme amd all, but even at that there should be a way to either disable the full text or the featured ones. Or at the very least be able to show the full text the full width of the site instead of it being bunched up like that.

I have to step out for about 4 hrs or so. If you think you can help, that would be swell. I appreictae it, and thanks!

Enjoy your lunch with your in law too.

Hi Mary... I will tkae a look, I have removed the lower ones in my theme right now, so only the green ones are there, no duplicate..

I will see if I can do the reverse now to remove the green and keep the ones that are lower

                        Hi Jay,

                        Okay great, and thanks!

If you can't, I may just have to leave the posts there, and figure out a way to make them the full width of the main body instead of half like it is now.

Ok, I see what you are talking about now.

I have never worked with a template that has the featured post option. There my be an option under design that has theme options were you can control this, but I wouldn't know with out looking myself.

Even if it is a theme edit I would imagine you would need to completely take out one or the other.

            Shannon,

Exactlt what I was thinking, but wanted to make sure before I start messing with the main code.

I'll see what Michael comes up with. He can probably go in there and be done in a couple of minutes.

            Thanks for all your help!
