The Best Niche is Always Difficult to Choose. Why?

Why do you find it difficult to choose the best niche when it comes to Internet marketing? The concept of the 'best niche' keeps on changing from time to time. Different marketers would say different niches as the best, but which one to choose? The 'best niche' on a given day ceases to be so another day! Why?

I think choosing the best niche is not that difficult, you can use tools or keyword research tool like google keyword tool to see how much people are willing to pay per click of each keyword, and the more expensive a keyword is paid it'll be considered as "money keyword" because people are willing to pay high and they can make money for this keyword.

But the best and the easiest thing to do is to use your commonsense... that's the best one where a good niche can be generated.
    I hope it helps you

I definitely agree with you. Choosing a niche is simple when you take into consideration what will be most profitable and what makes the most sense.

Yes, as the previous writer said choosing the niche is all about reposing confidence and faith on the product by taking common sense into account.

The notion of "best niche" is very subjective - what is best for one, can be inappropriate for other. Generally there are so many factors involved in choosing "best niche" - popularity, potential traffic, monetizability, type of niche (evergreen or fad) etc. plus the last but not least - your personal attraction to a particular niche.

Why it seases to be the "best" - everything is temporal, even some evergreen niches die from time to time.

In my opinion instead of overthinking whether a certain niche is good or not, it's best to take action - time will show!

"Saturated" is a state of mind. To the person who believes something is saturated, it means that they can no longer compete.

If you are a strong competitor, you will never be in a niche where too many people are participating, because you will be at the top of your game.

How does a niche "suddenly" become saturated? Sounds more like an excuse someone would make to avoid having to take the plunge in my opinion.

Anyways, on the original topic, the best niche is difficult to choose because there is no "best niche". It's just a mental block people have created for themselves to avoid taking a risk. It's easier to defend inaction by saying "nothing has met my standard yet" than it is to admit "I'm too afraid to try anything."

I think the best way to go about choosing a niche is to go for evergreen topics, like making money, losing weight, etc., but to find low competition keywords to target (provided you're working on a website).
That will ensure that you avoid saturation... It's always possible to enter a niche by a small side door and then work your way up towards bigger goals (KW)

"Saturated" means the niche is profitable; you must to focus ONLY in that niche and make good marketing, not magic tricks here.

The focus it's the hardest part requires a big effort from you.

You can choose two popular topics and meet in the middle.

For example, dieting program for bloggers, mommy bloggers.

List building strategy for Pinterest users, article marketers.

This requires that you give up majority of the most popular
niche yet dominate in the sub-niche.

Think of Subaru. They gave up sedans and gave it to Toyota,
    Nissan and Honda.

They focused on AWD and now they are great.

What do you do best? What is it that you can do that
most others can't do very well? That's your niche.

    Now see if enough folks are interested in the same thing;
do a Google search and see how many websites are devoted
to this niche using your main keywords; then do a Google
keyword external too research to see how many search the
    keyword and related keywords.

    If over 1,500 searches/keyword/month, then you've got
something. Is it a "buying" keyword? Check the Google search
on the right side to see if there are at least 4-6 adsense ads.

If so, you've got a niche that might work for you!
    Now get to work!

There's money in just about every niche. There will obviously be more money in one than the other but I wouldn't discount very niche things that would still give you a little bank roll if executed properly.

I found it easier to work on things you enjoy. Maybe you have a hobby that you'd love to write about. You should tap into those types of projects so you won't get burnt out doing it. Then take the money for those successful projects and start outsourcing.

If you are talking about profitable, evergreen niches, they are NOT difficult to find. Niches like weight loss, MMO, Forex, relationship etc are always going to be profitable. The question is whether you can compete and succeed in those niches.

This is a lifelong debate. You will always get different answers, some say follow your passion. To be honest, I have been in many different niches. The ones that are easiest to make sales in are problem related opposed to hobbie related. This is for the simple reason that if you have a (big) problem, you are on the net 24/7 until you find a solution.

Quick example: Somebody with warts on their private parts vs somebody wanting to buy a dvd player. Which one do you think is more motivated to make a purchase this week???

Go to yahoo answers, look at what people are asking and looking for, then creat a product (or promote products) in that area. In other words, you are looking for people with a problem that needs to be fixed, rather than sitting there at your desk thinking "Hmmm, what niche should I pick"...let the niche pick you.

Once you have the niche, then spend time on a forum specific to that niche and look at what people are talking about, what are their worries, what have they tried that didn't work, what are their frustrations, worries etc.

Of course, there is more to this but that is the basic concept.

    interesting topic!
Sometimes it can be very frustrating to search for the best niche , a lot of keyword search , alot of different results, and then doubts pops in and you are somehow bloked , sitting on your chair and doing....NOTHINGH. As some post explain above just go for it ( after a serious search..) but anyway till you are not doing marketing and see result you can never be sure if the niche is profitable or not.
best advise is probably to go for desperate markets like losing fat , acne , and so on ..

Most IMers have said weight loss is one of the best niches. Well, since there are many weight loss products from various companies, how to study the graph of the performing products? It is here that choosing the niche becomes very tough sometimes.

It becomes tough because you are basing the viability of a product/niche on someone else's experience with it. It's pretty foolish in my opinion. What someone else has done in a niche or with a product has little to nothing to do with what you can or cannot do with the same niche or product.

No, because "saturation" is a myth. Certainly there are markets that are more competitive than others. For example, which market is more competitive? How to cure acne or ant farms?

It's not about saturation. It's about who the market is, what are their needs and wants, what solutions can you provide to them, and what's the most effective way to reach them (distribution channels)?

"Most" IMers have not said this, not sure how you ascertained that. Some have, but that's not any indication on what one of the "best" niches would be.

As someone already mentioned, a "best" niche is highly subjective because no two people are alike. Maybe you meant to write "most profitable" niche. And even then it would depend on a lot of factors such as your demographics, your product mix (or service mix), price points, marketing funnels, back-end strategy, strategic alliances, etc.

Any market that has competition, buyers, and adveritsing dollars already has the 3 major indicators that it's got profit potential. From there it's a matter of finding one that pique's your interest and then figuring out how you're going to monetize that market.

For example, topics dealing with health issues, relationship, making money, protecting wealth, and the pursuit of happiness and well being all have markets and sub-niches that have been profitable for hundreds of years. By studying the competition and the buyers in those markets, you can virtually guarantee success for yourself.

Niches don't line up, wave their arms, and say pick me, pick me. Yep, some might be more obvious than others, though.

But don't think of it as choosing a niche, think of it as discovering a niche. It's search and discover. There is some work involved. The more confident you are in your work, the easier it becomes.

As usual, my comments come with a disclaimer: I am a newbie (translation: I have yet to make a consistent income from the internet).

But in spite of my inexperience, some things seem obvious to me. Here is how I'm currently approaching IM:

First off, I am not a professional writer (I was a technical writer for 3 yrs, but that's different). I can write about things I'm not interested in, but it takes a LOT longer, and at this point I just can't see myself cranking out article after article (blog post, etc.) about something I have no interest in. If I could even accomplish this, I would end up hating it more than my day job. For me, it seems for more feasible to write about something I know, and am passionate about.

This approach doesn't guarantee success - in fact, some would say it almost guarantees failure. But for me, taking on a product/niche that I have no interest in almost guarantees failure for me.

So I have chosen a niche that I've always been passionate about - travel. I won't tell you the specific sub-niche I'm working, but it's an area that I'm more familiar with than most people, and though the keyword research comes up less than stellar, I believe I can make a go of it.

Will it make money? Don't know - no more than anyone knows if his niche is profitable until he tries it. It may be profitable for someone, but will it be profitable for me? Lots of folks make good money in the relationship niche - a quick KW research will tell you that niche is HOT! I tried selling an ebook (Clickbank) on getting back with your ex - this is a topic that I have ABSOLUTELY NO INTEREST IN WHATSOEVER! If I were to write about relationships, it would be "How to Stay the Hell Away from your Ex" LOL! I made one sale in 6 months ($38 - it's still sitting in my clickbank account).

My point is, this niche may not make me a dime - most people say to count on at least one and probably several failures before you get it right. But even if this campaign fails, if I'm gonna put all this work into something that ends up failing, why not at least enjoy the process of putting together my first real campaign - and even if it does fail, I will still have the experience of creating and managing a campaign - that's miles ahead of what most folks have done! And thanks to that experience, my next campaign will be easier

The answer is to specialise, e.g weight loss for office workers, weoght loss for people who have just given birth...rather than just doing a general weight loss product.

Choosing the "best" niche is a sucker's game. It makes people fret, worry about being right/wrong, and invest ego into a decision that, ideally, would be made without ego or emotion.

When you balance on the cusp of plunging into a niche or renewing your search, you have to make a commitment that a given niche is the "best".

It's far more productive to set criteria that make sense to you, and then evaluate potential niches on a pass/fail grading scale. Either that niche meets the criteria, or it doesn't.

        If it doesn't, discard it.

If it does, put it on the list.

When you have your list, pick one and start on it. Your goal is to see if it's a "good", meaning viable for you, niche or just one that met your initial criteria and now fails the next round of testing.

On a side note, I'd never consider "weight loss" as a single niche. That's a major market with hundreds of smaller niches and sub-niches within it.

I actually believe that you can pick any niche. YOU are what makes the niche. Did you hear about the guys who sold thousands of dollars in bird cages? They made the niche through marketing the product by positioning and unique angle.

I believe you can pick whatever niche you enjoy doing. If you pick something that's popular, but you hate it, what good does that do you? Pick something that you enjoy.

What gurus stress is research. You have to know how the niche is doing in the market, which ones are making the most money. By knowing these things, you will be able to estimate how much you can make in the market.

You shouldn't base the quality of what you do/provide on how saturated a niche is. That would be foolish. I'd disagree with your second statement as well. I could write a NY Times Bestseller worthy ebook on "collecting lily pads", but if it turns out that no one in that niche buys anything, then that quality doesn't matter. That niche would "go in the oblivion" as you put it.
