When you do a large project for someone, do you write up any kind of formal work order, or do you just make an invoice, send it to the customer, and collect the money? A client needs a couple dozen sales pages, twitter pages, and related products. I want to keep things simple, but as detailed as possible. Thanks |

Did you already do a proposal? If you haven't, do this first with a contract outlining how much each thing or the whole project would cost... I'd then get them to sign the contract and possibly put down some % of the money up front. Then after the work is done, I usually send an invoice. I suppose a work order isn't all that different from an invoice though. |

Yes, I've already given a proposal with a quote, and the client agreed to pay half up front and half upon completion. So, if a work order is just a detailed list of the work to be done, then I could probably do without it. I could simply send an invoice with the details of the project, collect the down payment, complete the work, and invoice for the balance. But, I was curious if anyone here uses a work order. | |

Definitely get half upfront especially if you have never worked with them before. Send them an invoice of the work you did and hopefully collect the rest of the money.
