Need help with Aweber and Google Analytics integration

Dear Warriors,

I need help with integrating Aweber with Goolge Analytics.

At the moment I have an opt-in page where I want to lead more traffic via other parties. However, I need to pay these parties a fixed fee for every double opt-in for: $1,50 per lead.

Currently, I use Aweber for my mailing list. Therefore I created a special list in Aweber. If a user opt-ins he receives a number of follow up messages via an autoresponder.

In a follow up message there are certain hyperlinks and if someone clicks on it they will go to a salespage to buy one of my products.

I want to calculate the revenue and finally my profit that I will make with that specific list and to make finally the decision if a campaign is profitable or not.

Therefore, I want to combine Google Analytics with Aweber. I need to use Google URL builder to track the links that people open in my autoresponder.
However, I also need to configure Google Analytics. For example at "Conversions" in the Google Analytics account I can configure "goals".

However, I do not understand to do the final step properly. I'm looking for some help. How do I configure Aweber and Google Analytics so I can track the traffic and conversions I make from my e-mail campaign?

In that way I can predict better my ROI and I can make a clear decision if the fee of 1,50 is to high.

Thank you all!

Regards,

Christian

  • Hi,

The first step, like you mentioned, be sure to use the Google URL builder for every link you will include in your Aweber follow-up message. This is the only way to be sure that this traffic is coming to your list.

2nd step, I assume that your sales page is hosted in your domain (or at least) you can add your own analytics tracking code on it. The answer of this questions depends a lot the shopping cart you use. Also,if you sell only one product vs multiple ones can change the way you will do this.

Let's take the hypothetical example where you sell just one product at 27$ and when the product is purchased, the subscriber is redirected to /thanks-for-buying. page.

In this case, you will go on Admin > Account Name > Goal and click on Goal +.

You will choose URL Destination Goal, type /thanks-for-buying in the Goal URL, enter 27 for Goal value and click Save.

To see the Goal value of your list, you will go to Traffic Source > Campaign, and select Goal set 1 in the very top of the report.

If you have a fancy shopping cart things can be very different though...

    Good Luck!
