I would spend a few bucks on Facebook ads. Not really to sell but to build your traffic, likes and list. Then sell later.

You can pay for impressions as low as .01 cents per 1000. Put up $50 bucks per week, and start building your traffic, it works.

If you have the budget you can try using ads to do it. If not I would check out Social Media Examiner. They have tons of awesome guides on using Facebook and an hour long video guide for getting started with it and getting fans. They are a huge help and everything they put out is free so that's awesome!

I second both of the above posters. Social Media Examiner is the go to site for all things social media. Its a great site.

Facebook ads is a great place to start. Make sure you put your facebook badge on your website. Ask your friends to like the page. In them doing so, others will follow. Also, go Like some Facebook pages in your industry.

There is also a great page on FB called Get10000Fans. Lots of good advice there too.

Make sure you have at least 100 fans before running Facebook ads if you are going with the goal to "Like" the page. Mari Smith from Social Media Examiner actually recommends you have 1000. At the very least, get 25 so you can create your own URL off the Facebook extension.

Depending on your topic, share blog posts and relevant content on your page, share videos, images and create your own brand style. I like to call it your "House Brand," a term from the magazine publishing industry.

Make sure you get off the page too and interact with people (as your business page) on other business pages in your topic. And integrate your page with your blog. If you have an opt-in, make sure you're directing people to your Facebook page, put your like button on the website and in your emails.

Go for fiverr to get your ton of like and fans first. Then when others see that the page is loaded with likes and fans , they tend to trust you more and join in . All in all, building credibility is the first step to getting more fans and likes . This is even true for internet marketing. So , I guess just pay a fiverr and start out first?

Then, you can start considering putting up the low cost ads on facebook and impress people to join. After all, everyone wants to be part of a bigger community!

Hope I helped, good luck !
