Planting niche sites for the future

I have a few ideas for niche markets in the future. The technology may be 2 or 3 years off but i have set one site up now so it can age. How often should i add new content?

All depends on how much more real information you have to offer. It certainly would be a good idea to update it regularly if you have something worthwhile to make articles and get some backlinking done. You could build anticipation by talking about the problems (or whatever) this coming tech will solve--or whatever other tactic(s) you want to try that will be of interest to your readers.

The bigger questions I have: Are you really certain this tech is going to happen and are your articles correct in their prediction? If it is this far off in the future, could it be shelved by something better or a competitor before it even gets out the door? Please just consider these honest questions, it isn't mean to disparage what you are doing in any way--just a few quick thoughts on it.

I personally wouldn't worry about content for a site built about technology that isn't here yet. I would just let it age and as it gets closer to being a usable site (the technology is becoming available) then I would add content.

However, hey, if you have good info/content for the site - add it! If you see a news story - add it! Submit a Google Alert for the keywords you're targeting and stay on top of it. The more in front of the story you are, the better.
