I have a product I need to market online

I have been getting approached my people who want this product. So for the last few months I have been getting 1-3 sold a month at $700 each. Now I want to see if I can get more. Any thought where I can advertise online or off. I would also be willing to pay a commission on any referral that's buys.

    Hello hitman

There are a few options available for you
You can sell it directly from your website, this involves domain name, hosting, a good sales copy and merchant facilities. Ofcourse you need the right targeted traffic.
You can sell it through affiliate sites like clickbank and offer commission of 50% for each sale. For this you need an account with clickbank and a good sales page and thank you page. (Not sure what's the rules at click bank for such highly priced product)

I suggest that you first set up a web page with a good sales copy then join clickbank and offer a commission for affiliates.

You can also do some research on your target market and gather information about them. Then you can advertise your product to them. so lets say your target market is female single parent aged 25-35. find out where do they go online, which sites do they visit, forums they join etc... and get your product out there. Join the same forums, add your product to your sig box with a link to your site and contribute, make posts, show them that you are the expert.
You can also contact the site owner and offer them joint venture. They get 50% commission for promoting your product to their clients.

You can also advertise your product offline to your target market and refer them to your site online to purchase your product.

Meanwhile, contact those who purchased your product and ask them for testimonials so you can display them on your sales page.

For maximum results you can combine all the above
I wish you all the best.

    Regards,
    Lama Kalla

Lama's advise is excellent and there is very little I could add to it. The only other thing I might mention is that you did not specify if you were selling a digital (i.e. downloadable software or e-book) or physical product.

Clickbank only deals in digital products that customers can download. If you have a physical product, or software that is available only on CD then you might want to look at Commission Junction. They specialize in physical products, otherwise they operate very similar to ClickBank.

    Best of luck

    Bill

The product that i have been selling is a very personal; one of a kind gift you can give to you loved ones. There is work involved making this gift. It takes about 8 hours. I'm getting a few a month just by word of mouth and a few free online classifieds but i want more! I guess what im looking for is some to help me advertise this some and i will pay a commission.

With that price, and the type of good demand you are talking about, you should set up an affiliate program and offer a crazy good commissions.

Just keep it simple - a one page sales page site that describes your product in great details. Then another 1 page that explains your affiliate program.

You may have to use your own affiliate software for an offline made to order product.

You could also setup a Wordpress blog based on your target market. This would get dialogue going with your potential customers allowing you to build up a relationship with them and it's also a good place to advertise your product too as well as your sales page.

    Hi Hitman,

You haven't mentioned what the product is....or the market it serves. That would make it easier to give you more specific tips on how to market it. Without that information, any advice I could give would be very broad & general.

What's the product & niche market?
What are you currently doing to promote and sell it?
    What's your marketing budget?
How many would you like to sell each month?

The basis of any internet business is traffic. If you're getting 1-3 sales per month with little to no promotion you quite simply need to roll out a major traffic generation campaign and start getting more prospects in front of your offer.

    TrafficGuy,

This is a high priced item. ($700) It take me around 9 hours the make it. I would like to sell 2 ore more a week but all i know about internet marketing is putting ads on craigslist. If i could find someone to help me i would pay a nice commission.

    Hitman,

On the web, its just as hard to get a visitor to a salespage selling a $700 product as one selling a $7 product if you know how to drive traffic.

If your sales letter is already converting well, just ramp it up and drive a ton of traffic to it!

Send me a PM with your product details, I might be interested in promoting it.

As an aside you shouldn't depend on affiliates to market your stuff for you. Get some sales yourself, then you can approach affiliates with hard numbers like conversion rates, refund rates, and the like. You will also have screenshots to back it up. Many many more people will promote for you this way.

How about doing a video for Utube or in exchange for their name and address send a video/brochure by post and then follow up. Offer anyone who has bought your product a commission if they recommend a friend.

    Hope this helps too?

Traffic guy makes an interesting point....You could sell your own product directly from your own website, which involves getting all the thing you need like a hosting account, domain name, great sales copy and a great buying source like paypal. All the time of course you would need to generate targeted traffic to your page. Alternatively you could sell your product with an affiliate site (clickbank, commission junction) and offer an enticing sales commission for each sale to your afflliates. You'd only need great sales page and thank you page for your affiliates to refer to then. Easier to get an affliate to promote it for you directly in this case...hope this helps!

    Hey Hitman,

If you want to earn more, then leverage by outsourcing website promotion and linkbuilding for your product website or landing page. If you invest as little as $500 a month for a fulltime worker to do all the leg work for you so you'll end up with 3-5 or more sales in a week. Then, you are in the 'win-win' game!
