help with college student marketing project ideas, please

I'm a marketing professor looking for more REAL hands-on student projects.

My students have done some of the following in the past:

1) Traffic counting & analysis for intersections

2) Parking lot traffic counting, license plate census & analysis

3) Googling for SME (small to medium enterprise) competitors using key phrases to determine how intense the online competition is (contents, gadgets, etc.), who competitors are, and market segment positioning of the competition.

4) Creating YouTubes of customers in action to be considered for website.

5) Prospecting using the Encyclopedia of Associations for a lodging property, narrowing the options down to where associations held previous meetings, then examining websites to find comparable properties to finally narrow the list of potential associations down to those that would make the best fit with the property for whom they are doing the project.

6) Searching online chamber directories for MSEs within a venue's acceptable driving distance to find businesses that represent pre-formed groups (real estate companies, large car sales companies, insurance companies, etc.)

7) We've found online directories of public schools by district for entire states. Using these, for venues, students have created teacher e-mail directories for all elementary school teachers within 100 miles.

8) Spending the night at a new hotel property. Then assembling and, in teams of two by districts created by the hotel's sales & marketing staff, distributing press kits to local corporate offices.

9) Assisting an exhibitor at a trade show.

These have been some of our more successful projects. Feedback? More ideas will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
