Default How Accurate is ClickBank's Analytics?

I know it says "beta" but still I'm wondering how accurate it is.

As far as I know, I use tracking IDs on all my links so I'll know what site is making the referral.

In ClickBank's Analytics, it appears I'm sending 600+ hops a month (with zero sales) from links with no tracking IDs. Looking up what products are being promoted, I'm not sending 600+ hops to any particular product; they just seem spread relatively evenly across all the products.

I'm just trying to figure out if maybe ClickBank is losing the tracking ID, or if I have a site (or sites) out there with links that don't have a tracking ID. If it is the latter, I'd really like to know what sites they are, because, if I'm sending 600+ hops per month, I can take a look at the site and maybe focus in on a smaller group of products or a single product or something to make better use of those hops.

I've searched my sites, but have yet to find any links without tracking IDs. I figured I'd ask if anyone knew the accuracy of ClickBank's Analytics, because if it's a matter of ClickBank dropping the tracking IDs, I'm not going to run myself ragged trying to track down links on my sites!

Thanks!

Hey

If you don't know which product you are getting the hops for, here is what you should do:

When you go to the analytical section simply change the "report by"
from tracking ID to publisher. This way you will know which product you are getting the hops for.

Also I think everytime a person reloads a page it is counted as a hop so you may not actually be getting 600 unique hops.

Hope that helps

Thanks, but that's not the problem. The problem is I don't know which website is sending the hops without a tracking ID.

For example, today I had 95 total hops. Those were spread across 39 products. There are 62 hops without tracking codes. I don't know where those 62 hops came from and I don't know where they're going.

Just a followup... I think that perhaps ClickBank may lose the tracking ID.

Today, on one product I had 5 hops. I only promote this product from one link, and that link uses a tracking ID. Yet, that tracking ID shows only 2 hops for the day.

So, at some point, 3 of those tracking IDs must have been lost. Whether it could be client-side or ClickBank's side, I don't know.

Hey Dan a lot of times Google's spiders and bots will visit your hoplinks, causing you to have hops that don't seem to make any sense!

Could this be the culprit?

Best,
Shane

Good point. But, in total, I get over 50 hops a day that don't have tracking numbers. And, I have been unable to find any of my websites where I am not using tracking IDs. I can't imagine those are all spiders or bots. A lot of the sites haven't been updated in months, so there's really no reason Google would be visiting them multiple times per day.

Even if you figure in other spiders and bots, I don't know. Maybe. It just seems like a lot to me.
