Help with Amazon affiliate text links: Opening in new windows

OK, the ads with pictures (banners) have a check box to make them open in new windows. But the text links do not. How do I make the text links open up in new windows? I want my page to remain open if people click on my links. Thank you so much.

Just add target="_blank" in the link code - add everything indicated in red

    hi,

i´ve been trying to open one amazon affiliate text link in a new tab, without sucess.
i already tried to add target="_blank" but nothing.
Also i know that for banners we have to add &lt1=_blank.

My affiliate link is a text link.
Can someone please tell me exactly where do i put the target="_blank" code?

    Thx.

If you are using wordpress, this is really simple. Highlight the text you wish to hyperlink with your affiliate link, then click the link symbol (chain). Enter your link URL and check the box ( Open link in a new window/tab) for opening up in a new window.

Try this then. Go into html editor and paste the following in where you want your link:

    <a href="http://yourwebsitelink.com" target="_blank">Highlighted text here</a>

The sections in bold are your affiliate link and text you wish to use as a link.

Thanks but i already tried that. The text link from amazon is long and maybe the target="_blank" is somewhere between the code.
I´ve been searching for a solution on google but with no luck.

PM me if you are still stuck and I will see if I can help you out.

I have a great video showing this and a little spreadsheet I use to shorten my Amazon affiliate links. All that I need do is add my aff id and ASIN number of the product and I get a shortened affiliate link.

I'm a web developer and it just seemed to happen that one day all of the Amazon aff links began opening in the same windows. I assume that they changed something on their end but haven't spent much time on it.

It is not as easy as adding a target _blank anymore. Can you show us how you shorten those links?
Can you shorten aff links with bit.ly?

        Thanks

    Hi

Don't you want people to stay on Amazon once they are there? Why do you want them back on your site where they can't buy anything?

I'm unsure of the reasoning behind using a new window when traffic goes from a pre-sales page to the sales page.

Is it because you want them to leave Amazon and return to your site and surf away?

Or is it so the new window will not have an active "back button" so people can't back out of Amazon once they are there?

I think it is because that people might think, don't leave my site in the case you forget something

I could understand that if you were selling something from the site. But the only purpose of an Amazon affiliate site is to pre-sell and send traffic to Amazon.

Once you have achieved that, why make it easy to abandon Amazon?

And if you are worried people left your site "by mistake" and want to come back, then the 'back button' is the most natural reaction. Opening a new window disrupts this natural way back to your site.

I don't know why, but I like the open in a new window option

I'm just curious. I don't use it for my Amazon sites for the reasons above. I'm just wondering if there is a reason I am overlooking, other than just repeating something others do.
