Could this sell well as a WSO?

Hi all,

I've just had an idea...

I have a small website creation activity based on the CMS Joomla! and several of its additional components. Don't waste your time searching this on my website, it's all in French, on another website...

I have originally spent a lot of time researching and studying the right components in order to improve the basic features of Joomla! - and when I build a website with it I change and add a lot of things, it's not just a matter of installing it, actually it's a lot of work.

It would take me some time but I could write a complete guide on how to do this, with all the steps, mentioning all the right components and plug-ins to use to have a site as complete and secure as mine, the reasons why I recommend them, how to use them, etc. All of them are free except for the software I use to create the graphic designs.

Does this sounds like a good idea?

Thanks.

Seb.

    Honestly...

    NO.

The reason, well if you do some research on what sells then you will see there may be a very tiny demand for what you have in mind.

Head over to the WSO section and search the forum for the actual product you have an idea about creating and see if there is anything similar.

Check out the post counts and feedback and judge from that if it sold well.

If not don't waste your time.

    Or...

List a free WSO similar to the product you have in mind and after a week survey your list and ask them if they would buy the product you have in mind to get an idea if there is any demand for it.

    Hope this helps.

    Colin.

Give us an example. So your site (which you must admit sounds like a lot of work to set up) what does it do better than say, an out-of-the-box wordpress site with the usual plugins?

      That's easy.
If I take into account only the features I'm using in mine - there are a lot of things I don't need in this one - membership site, forum, PMs, photo gallery, improved security (protection against injections), advanced statistics, improved WYSIWIG editor, tabs and slides in content, easy backup system, etc...
And that's only for the features I use in that particular site. I actually started in this activity by building shops, for example. And multilingual sites are easy to set up if you understand how (it used to require an additional component but not anymore).

Do you use Facebook ? Then you can make money just by inviting people to a Facebook group ! It's called the Instant Income System. How cool is that?

    Hi,

If you could figure out the market for this, then I would do it. For example, if your process creates a very good membership site, or something, then you find people interested in guides on how to build good membership sites.

If you can brand it like "Step by Step Guide to Creating a Full Featured Membership Site for Free", then it could gain some traction. You just need an angle.

Ive got to disagree with this.

There is alot of guides on building a membership site.

The fact that your guide covers Joomla and not WordPress would make it a hard sell as a WSO simply because there is alot more WSO buyers that use WordPress than there are using Joomla.

Just look at all the softwares and plugins that are developed, this shows WordPress is a huge market in the WSO section.

Yes the guide could sell but probabley not on the WSO section, well I honestly don't think it would sell but that's just my opinion!

      Regards,
      Colin.

Research, if there is not already a proven market for it, (a buying market where a similar product is being sold) then stay away.

Yes, you should look first for the previous WSOs that similar with your ideas.
If the WSO thread got a lot of views (more than 3000 views), that's mean the seller bump the thread many times, and we could know that the WSO is profitable.

    i agree with colin,

people buying on WSO only know wordpress.

but you can do that and sell to the joomla audience else where.

The number of warrior's that would be using joomla would be pretty limited so i don't think it'd take off too well...

but as someone mentioned, list a free WSO, see what your response is like...

No. WF is not for "techy" guys. Web development, php, html, databases - it's not for IM's. You need to develop nice and polished plug-in or super-multi script - only in this case you can proudly launch it as a WSO. Good luck.

Agree with the other warriors I think the demand for it here on the WF is too small.
It may work as a product to sell on your site if you have a target audience for it.

    Good luck with your product

I actually think it is a good idea.

If you can offer something different than people being able to look up the info for free.

    Example:

"How To Create A Fully Operational Joomla Website In 4 Hours Flat!"

Discover Why Joomla Beats Wordpress Hands Down But No-one Uses It Because It Is Too "Technical"!

EXCLUSIVE: Grab A PLR License To The Guide & Videos And Offer REAL Value To Your List..."

Just a few ideas of the spin you could put on it.

If you can show how to do this simply and you have got a USP go for it....
