Anyone Still Using Digg?

Is digg still an effective way to drive traffic to a blog.
If so how would you recommend using it?

I just use it for bookmarks and to gets sites indexed quickly. I understand StumbleUpon though can be a good source of traffic if you're active in the community there.

I agree with you there. Every time I use StumbleUpon I see a burst of traffic almost instantly, and it continues to trickle in for a few weeks after the initial jump.

I rarely see traffic coming from Digg, but then again, it just might be the niche. But certainly StumbleUpon is really good for getting some traffic.

I know what Digg is, hence the rolls eyes icon. Digg lost years ago.

It's not nearly as effective as it use to be in terms of traffic from there shutting down sites if it hit the front page. Reddit has that spot now, and digg has shrunk quite a bit anyway, with founder leaving and broken updates for awhile, but there are still decent number of people on there and they're still effective for a good backlink.

Digg is only really useful for backlinks IMO these days. Every has up and left and gone to reddit. If you're looking for serious traffic try Reddit!

I think Digg is a great way to gain exposure for your site or blog. I know one recommendation is to recommend sites other than your own as well as links from your own. The articles should be newsworthy or educational and not spam. I say try not to have too many submitted at once, too.

Digg is a social bookmarking site. Social bookmarking sites are a good way to get initial traffic to your site. With that said, I've never gotten that much traffic to my site from Digg. There are ones that have worked better for me. It does, however, get stuff indexed quickly in the search engines.

    Good luck,
    Joey

It's a good site to leave your link, but I don't get much traffic from it.

As always bookmarking sites are a good way to get traffic too. One thing's sure with bookmarking sites - it helps you get your site indexed quickly.

Lately, I use reddit more than digg

I use their ads program for traffic generation, it's quite cheap and profitable

I am still using DIGG, but my results are less than optimal if you know what we mean. Digg is not what it once was. I no longer dread the digg effect of yore. Like that does not seem to happen anymore. Still, there is some link juice. Google still appears to use social networking actions as a signal when it ranks web pages.

In terms of viral value, I stopped using it.

However I still find value in the bookmark itself for my sites.

    Diggs usually get indexed immediately.
