First Affiliate Sale!

Woohoo! I just made my first affiliate sale from clickbank. I know that's small potatoes to some of you guys. But this is my first one and it's cause to celebrate.

So, after one month I have 3 good accomplishments I can hang my hat on:

-I took 2 sites to the first page of google. No blackhat schemes. Just good hard work.

-I've banked about $3 in adsense from those sites.

-Now, I've made my first clickbank affiliate sale on one of those sites.

This just gave me the boost I needed, as this weekend I'm launching a HUGE offline promotion. I'm going to blanket a few universities in my city with flyers and business cards promoting another affiliate. Let's hope it goes well!

    You always remember the first time you make money online as it is very symbolic it is proof that what you are doing actually does work.

    Some have asked me how I did it:

    Content-content-content! - PLR is not enough. But it is a good starting point. I usually take PLR article in word and rework it. If I start with a 2 paragraph article, it'll end up as a 4 paragraph article. Think of PLR as a protein shake. It's just there to supplement an already healthy diet.

    Quality backlinks - Ezine, go articles, infobarrel, squidoo, wordpress, blogger, and so on. I'll write a fresh article for each one of those, or spin a current article I have and link to my site. Rinse and repeat 3 or 4 times.

    Backlinks for my backlinks - Ping my articles on those article sites a few hundred times. I outsourced this bit. But have since learned to do it myself and can do it for you as well though my goferr gig.

    Facebook/Reddit - Build a facebook page and link to my site a lot. Find the appropriate subreddit for my niche and drop a link there once a day. This also acts as a backlink, but it puts the site right in front of the people that might want to see it.

    Adwords - I set up a moderate campaign. $5 a day for 5 days. I saw my traffic jump from this.

    Affiliate ad placement - I found the best affiliates on clickbank for my niche. I took gravity into account, (less than 50.) But more importantly, do they have good banners. A good banner can make all the difference. If they don't have any banners, I just move on to the next. I placed my affiliate banners according to google's heat map.

    Just about the time I hit 1,000 page views, boom, a sale! Not to mention a handful of adsense clicks as well, icing on the cake.

    So all told, for the domain, site, advertising campaign, and outsourcing it cost about $60. My first affiliate sale earned me $20. But it's the first of what I hope is many!

    Trade dimes for quarters. Takes money to make money. You've heard all that before, but it's a cliche for a reason.

    Also, I don't think my strategy was anything new. It's been said here a million times. The key is commitment and follow through!

    Cherish it and plan to work hard to get more traffic.

    Do not waste good amount of money on flyers at universities. Go slow and lay low until you make it big.
