How much do YOU spend on site maintenance per month?

Hi fellow Warriors!

I'm just curios: Including hosting, domain name, auto responders, keyword research, this plugin, that plugin and whatnot, how much do you spend on average on maintaining ONE site per month?

Please exclude things like SEO tools, link building, outsourcing, design etc... I'd like to know about site maintenance only (listed above), NOT marketing or improving it.

Also, please reply only if you're making any money with the site you're going to mention (at least $300-$500 per month). I mean I can imagine that hosting for a site that receives virtually zero traffic can be very cheap, but the hosting price can increase nicely once you start seeing some decent traffic! Same for autoresponders, etc...

It would be even better if you could list everything in order and calculate how much each item costs you on a monthly average. This could be of enormous help to all of us who spends on similar stuff.

So let's hear it! Just simply jot down how much you spend in an average month on maintaining a site that's making you some decent money!

Thanks,
Edward

Where around $60, my hosting takes $9.95 and i don't renew my domain every month hope you know that.

I only have couple of site using autoresponder which consume the remaining $50 or so.

Yes, of course I know you don't renew every month! But you're right, we can probably exclude domain from the list as $1 doesn't really count.

      ANYONE ELSE?

Well hosting and autoresponder costs around 30$ per month and there are some not monthly expenses but if you add everything it should be around 40$ per month...

A couple of things,i will never disclose on any website, forum or infact to anyone how much i either earn or spend to support my sites as i see this as personal information and one cannot be 100% certain who reads these threads the other thing i find frustrating is you are asking other people to disclose this type of information but you have not provided any yourself.

Please note these are only my thoughts on this subject and not aimed at anyone specifically

      Hi,

I don't understand how telling how much you spend on your site's hosting, domain, autoresponder and a couple of plugins could harm your success.

BTW, you're right, I forgot to mention my data: I never spend more than $30 per month including domain, unlimited hosting, autoresponders and whatnot. Also, I don't use ANY plugins and don't spend money on SEO software or whatnot, not because I couldn't afford, but I simply don't need them.

Sorry for not telling this before, you made a very good point. Sorry if I offended anyone!

If anyone else could share that would be great!

      Thanks everyone,
      Edward

Almost nothing. Just an amortised 1/12th of its annual registration and hosting costs. And hosting's very inexpensive, when you have a large number of sites sharing one hosting package.

I don't spend any money on SEO tools, link-building or design.

I do very occasionally spend $10 or so on outsourcing something, but I can't remember the last time that happened.

I have monthly autoresponder costs, of course, for my business - but that isn't part of "site maintenance" (not the way I keep my accounts, anyway).

I stopped giving detailed income figures here over a year ago, when I replaced my former ones with the statement that "I earn a little bit more than either my doctor or my lawyer", and my monthly income's probably grown another 50% since then - I'm "doing ok", anyway. I set up my business for under $100, and there was never a point at which investing another $1,000 or $2,000 or whatever would have made my income any bigger, faster or steadier. (Obviously that isn't so for all business models in "internet marketing"!).

Like Alexa, I spend almost nothing on things you've listed. I use servers with unlimited bandwidth now (after a few bad experiences) unlimited hosting, annual domain name renewals, ($12) and the different host accts altogether monthly don't equal $20....yes, I am cheap.

Now, for my offline clients, I engage services, like seo and link building etc. But those costs are all reimbursed at a profit.

Same here. Monthly costs for site maintenance is negligible as I have no SEO, no keyword research, a self-hosted autoresponder, and no plugins or any whatnots. However, my beer and pizza party budget is running around $300-$500 per month; triple that during holidays and seasonal events. Hope that helps.

News of those has even reached Europe, you won't be too surprised to know.

Well it really depends, I have an E-commerce for a clothing brand , I pay less than 70$ monthly on manteinance for this. On the other side I have many sites that I monetize with Adsense, and actually this is where I have to take out the money. I SEO myself but I have to pay for content creation as my english is really poor. I also have 2 persons working for me for the SEO part as I offer SEO service too. All in all I spend around 4-500$ for my sites but I would double or more that if I was paying someone else for SEO..

A good question that makes my hair on the back of my neck standup. I do so much work online and so many websites I personally own or those I or my team work on for others it is unbelieveable. It is time consuming and you lose track of time when you are working and in the flow.

It is important not to drift into searching and Emails and other distractions. You must keep you focus and set goals for each day and long term. Decide where you want to be when and work hard to get there. Programming and Website building are the other two time and money consumers.

I will just say I don't spend a lot on the things that you have listed, and under $50 per month on everything I do.
