Hi

I am new into dropshipping and ecommerce.I recently contacted a few manufacturers and they told me that they can make the product and I can resell it.They told me that I can ask UPS/Fedex or some other postal service to dropship the products and this is possible if I have a UPS/Fedex merchant account

Does anybody know how to get such an account?...or is there some other method for doing this?

P.S :Everything is being done in US (manufacturing and shipping)

Any other suggestions apart from merchant account, are also invited....I have already contacted a few dropshippers who do everything(manufacturing and shipping).....but this manufacturer is important since I need to increase the variety of the products

thanks
Ankur

you can open a shipping account online at ups.com, or you can call the 800 number for help. your shipping volume will determine how your account will be serviced. Rates between
ups and fed x are very similar, and unless you have a significant volume of shipments , you are probably not going to get better than published rates. The usps can be competitive depending on weight. You'll need to determine what your product weighs, what your expected annual shipping volume will be, and how quickly you want your product delivered to determine the best carrier to meet your needs.

Whoo There Buddy, you are kinda putting the cart before the horse!

We are BIG facilitators (the guys who dropship for our JV partners) we enjoy pretty great FedEx rates because we ship a LOT of stuff on a weekly basis.

If you are doing piecemeal shipments, giving out your account number, you are going to pay retail/published rates.

the way it is supposed to work. . . working with the facilitator, you are enjoying their discounted shipping rates!

Anybody big enough to make furniture, must be shipping it out. Relook at what is going on here!

it sounds as if this is Tevis' area of expertise. I don't know much about freight, only about small items that weight less than 5 lbs. Hopefully he can point you in the best direction.
