Video editing software?

Does anyone have recommendations for good, free video editing software?

I want to make several videos that are more complex than powerpoint/camtasia.

What I want to be able to do is to add fading transitions, display text during transitions, have edit together multiple clips between the transitions.

Don't know free, apart from trials, which some seem to use for a while.......

AVS4YOU is affordable for video and audio software, it's 1 price for all of their audio, video, image and utilities software.

  • Hi TcRosby, being a MAC user and supporter, I can advise Final Cut Pro X.
Check it and let me know if it does what you desire.

    Windows Movie Maker is free.

But Sony Vegas and Magix Movie edit pro offer free trials, both are pretty decent packages.

Sony Vegas is more expensive but has more options. If you're on a tight budget Magix is a good middle ground between Sony Vegas and Windows Movie Maker.

Easy to use and cheap: Sony Vegas

More expensive, but a lot more functional: Adobe Premiere

Best non-linear editor: Final Cut Pro

Sorry, can't think of a single free solution worth using. Vegas is only about $30.
