Short(er) e-mail address.

I have a client who has a ReallyLongDomainName.com.

He wants a shorter e-mail address. Do you have any recommendations other than the standard gmail, Yahoo mail, AOL, etc? I would like to hear about other ideas and services that you may have tried.

Thanks in advance.

Start a new domain name with his name (ie: support@randallmagwood .com)

It's not quite that simple. He might consider a service like y9.com. I was looking for some recommendations from members with some experience or other ideas.

      Thanks,

It actually could be that simple...you buy a small domain, create the address, and then forward that to his "ridiculously long" address he already has.

I have 1 email for every domain that I buy, and then I use my cPanel and create a forwarder so all of them bounce to 1 account. Nice & simple and I only have to memorize 1 password.

That's exactly what I do. I believe in keeping things as simple as possible.

      • Unless something has changed lately, the last time I looked people were asking absurdly high prices for very short .com domain names (4 letters or less), so buying one may not be practical.

I haven't looked at the lesser TLDs.

You can find them on eBay for cheap. Of course the letters may not make much sense , but every once in awhile you run into a good one. I found a four-letter .com for $15 that just happened to be the four initials of a project I was working on.

Yep, I agree with the above. Get him another domain name, maybe even an abbreviation of his really long domain name. It will look much more professional, and he won't have to put his business emails in the hands of a third-party service(well, other than his domain registrar/host, of course).
