Can SEOElite Hurt Your Google Rankings?

Hey Mark,

I have used SEO Elite myself for the same purpose and have noticed significant adverse effects from usage. I am currently using something called Rank Checker that can be downloaded for free as a plugin with firefox, I have noticed no adverse affects using the free plugin so i've left SEO Elite in the dust.. it's my estimation that it is extremely damaging to website rankings, please let me know if you have trouble finding the rank checker for firefox..

Any idea if my rankings will come back if I stop using the software and if so how long?

Is there a fixed penalty time wise that you know of?

Many of my sites ranked page 1 without any linking as there is little or no competition in my niches. Should I start doing some linking to get them back?

Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

I would recommend that you stop using SEOElite for a few days at least and build a few new quality backlinks to your pages. Google may just be shuffling your pages around a bit or Dotslash could be on to something and they may be updating their ranking variables... This happens to lots of people and most of the time when the water settles your rankings will come back and possibly higher than before as well..

You may be right but i doubt its coincidence that within 1 week after switching to rank checker and giving SEOElite 5-10 target keyword terms hit the first page with Google... I'm fairly positive that Google is on to SEOElite and it is punishing users, if you read Google TOS you may be able to connect the dots

Well, i dont understand why using SEO lite will affect your ranking as well.
What's wrong check for keywork and competitor website using SEO lite ?

People saying a tool like that is hurting their rankings are giving very bad advice.
p.s. If that's would be even possible the only thing you would have to do use the tool to get the top 10 is use the tool on the current top 10 results, your competitors. lol

Seo Elite does things that anyone can do manually, just quicker and more efficiently. It is not affecting your ranking, and its a powerful tool that you should continue to use. Your'e just caught in a google dance. It happens.

Seo elite has nothing to do with your "ranking nightmare".

This happen sometimes, don't go mad about it, just continue getting backlinks for your website, and work on conversion.

Now, you understand that all your traffic should come from VARIOUS sources, and that's a good point.

Ok... normally I don't jump into threads like this, but it's a MAJOR pet peave of mine when I see people giving advice when they have absolutely no idea what they're talking about, only to mislead someone looking for good advice.

Locke: Not to sound rude, but there is 100% nothing that SEO Elite, or any software product that analyzes a website's rankings could do to hurt your ranking. SEO Elite provides the user with information and information only. It's up to the user to use that information they gleam from the software. SEO Elite analyzes web pages and reports it to the user. There is no direct attachment from SEO Elite to the user's website. If using SEO Elite hurt your rankings, don't you think people would be hurting their competitor's websites all day long? Again, Locke, what you're saying is completely impossible. So... essentially you're saying that if I plugged your website into SEO Elite to check where your site ranks, it's going to hurt your Google rankings? Tell me you're joking.

When SEO Elite checks to find where a site ranks, it simply opens the web browser (behind the scenes), goes to Google, inputs the keyword, then reports it to the end user. It looks and acts 100% exactly like if you manually opened your web browser and went searching in Google for your keyword. Absolutely nothing is different. It's just automating the manual tasks you could do yourself, but would take longer.

Mark, take my advice and listen to those of us at the Warrior forum that actually know SEO, and ignore the random comments like "I think it can" based on absolutely no facts :-)

The one thing I dont get is how wierd my search rankings now are. I am not a newbie at seo and I have been doing seo for over 10 years and have many happy clients. It is just that I have never ran into a problem like this before.

If google has done an update I can appreciate that my rankings might change, however I have approx 150-200 first page rankings, mainly top 3 rankings and every single one has dropped down 20-40 places.

Surely, some of them would have stayed on the first page or even second page? Maybe some rankings falling and some rising? But for all of them to go, something else is wrong.

All my sites have pagerank and have been linked using numerous different techniques, so it is not like all links are coming from one place.

Not really sure what I should do next? It will be a week on Saturday, should I give it longer to see if they come back on their own?

My income off these websites has totally died so I really need to do something fast. Would you recommend maybe moving a couple over to a different host in case my server has somehow become blacklisted?

Any other suggestions would be very much appreciated.

The concern I have with SEO elite is that if Google sees that my website has gotten many backlinks in a short period of time, I am scared my website will be blacklisted.

off topic but has anyone got their 2 free products from brad for the ppc coaching class? I got seo elite and keyword elite and just wondering if anyone started getting theirs.

I don't think a software can hurt your rankings...I have been running ibp for 5 yrs..to death..like seo elite. If a program like this could be bad for your site...Id be dead!

Wait a few days..I had an experience where I fell off the charts once, came back 2 weeks later, Had a nervous breakdown..just start building links ...writing good stuff, the norm.
