How Can I make My Facebook Fan Page Go Viral?

You can't actually make facebook pages viral, it just happens. You can however try and force it to go viral with purchasing facebook likes. But you have to be ware that purchasing facebook likes could be fake accounts, people who are not interested in your page.

So to make your page go viral is a tough task it all depends on your page and whats it all about. You need to get your page to your targeted fans which them "Will" go viral by it's self.

I think you can try Facebook Advertising to promote your page, It would certainly cost you more but I think it's the best way to get real fans in quick time.

If you have a blog or a website then embed this page`s like button or some feeds on website. This will increase likes. Some more methods you can do:
Give away some special offer or gift to people who will like your page. Similar to a contest. And for participating this contest tell your website visitors and facebook friends that liking this page is essential.
That is really helpful. You can also create events and post in this contest. Other paid task will be to post an ad of your page in newspaper or use Facebook Ad.

Facebook advertising is probably the best way to promote you page.

Things just happen to go viral and it's unlikely that someone trying to make something go viral actually does go viral.

For something to go viral it has to be funny/interesting/shocking. It needs to get someone to go OMG you have to see this.

Make something crazy , controversial , or the like.

The absolute BEST way I've found to get a great number of likes (not viral mind you) is to stay up on trending terms on google trends. When something is getting a ton of press (Treyvon Martin/George Zimmerman was the big one in the past 2 weeks). Generate a page that creates even more controversy and beg for likes to support the cause.

You can build a better, faster list with Twitter... I would focus my time on that before Facebook. My 2 cents...

My humble opinion:

Firstly, you need good content in your fanpage. Maybe videos,articles or photos etc (the key point here is...consistent content). Not one day post lots of stuffs...then nothing happens until a few months later...consistent as in every day if possible.

Secondly, you can create an optin to give free stuffs..this will help a lot in your list building. Or direct your visitors to your external website (have a popup window or optin box).

thirdly, you can try Facebook ads to bring massive cheap traffic to your fanpage. This is risky if you don't know how to utilize FB ads method.

Some news stories that are directed at particular individuals - creating a facebook page ridiculing them has been known to go viral quite well.

One example comes to mind ..

When we had those riots in the UK, the second it hit the news there were 100s of Facebook pages being created to parody what had happened to direct abuse at the offenders

You can't make a Facebook fan page go viral. It either happens naturally on the strength/popularity of the page or it doesn't happen at all. As others have said, you can create the illusion of a viral page by purchasing the heck out of likes; but that isn't going to do anything for you (outside of boosting your ego a bit, maybe).

You've got your mindset wrong. If there was some secret, magic way to do things like this then every Facebook page would go viral (and when everyone is special, no one is :rolleyes.

Creating useful & great content is a good way to increase the "likes" and fans on your fan page.

You can also promote your fan page with facebook advertising using CPM (cost per impression). You'll need to create and test a number of ads to see which ad has the highest CTR, and then use that ad to advertise to your target audience.

If you find a viral topic and make a fan page for it, how does that affect the fan page you really want people to view, your own?

i always find a lot of funny pictures that people might share , or a free give away if picture is liked and shared , these get the page out there and get legit likes and customers!

In the facebook fan page, offer some free report to people.
Put the link in the fan page to a page with a viral script, i mean, a page where someone need to like your fan page to receive your free report.
Make sure the report is good and related to your fan page.

It's simple. Luck and a good idea. You can't just make it go viral, unless you have thousands of dollars for Facebook ads.

I agree with the people saying paid Facebook Ads is the way to go. Find a good demo/interest group for your fan page, setup a bunch of ads and test, test, test. As long as you can hit a high CTR (0.1%+) you can get a bunch of fans pretty cheap

My suggestion is that you add value to your facebook pages. Create content and resources that will prove useful to your target audience. Run surveys, polls, ask questions and post anything that can be of interest to them. Then, promote it by sharing it to your friends and also using facebook ads for pages. Make your layout very catchy and interesting so people don't click the back button.

You can use a facebook like exchange (like my signature) or produce something and give it away for free in exchange for likes.

I use youlikehits.com. Real likes, but you have to either buy credits or like other pages.

Another way to get traffic to your FB page: Join Pinterest. Find cool images online and get your FB url attached to them. Those things can go viral, but not all will click the image. But it is a free way to go.

tumblr is a good option to get legit Facebook traffic (and likes). Use custom theme and some imagination to get that traffic (it's not that hard to get traffic from there).

Whether you realise it or not, you are probably helping things go viral everyday. How many times do you share content or videos with friends and family (whether telling them to watch it, or sharing it via social networks)?
Everytime you share something - figure out why you want to. Apply that to your page.

Also - keep on top of the latest trends around your niche. Going viral can be as much about timing as it about the content.

Start a contest in your Facebook page -contests like a referral contest. The one who gets to refer the most number of likers win. But you should make the contest something really fun so it's not just plainly about the Facebook likes. And the prizes should be enticing too, so that your audience will be encouraged to participate.

That's the million dollar question isn't it?

There are various things that could get you viral attention, but going actually "viral" (as in: booming viral) is much harder.

If you want to get viral attention, I'd start out with creating *awesome* content. Something your target audience WANTS/NEEDS to have. When you have that, you have something to leverage with. This content can be anything (an ebook, a video, a couponcode or another kind of freebie). Once you have that, you can "trade" that in return for a Facebook Share (message on their wall), for instance. Or (even better) trade it as soon as they've invited an X amount of friends (who actually liked the page as well). Of course there are way more ways to get viral attention, but I just wanted to give you an idea as a starting point

When you want to go really viral, you have to go with the trends. We all know the success stories of viral apps that spreaded like crazy, but when you try that 1 year later you won't get much success.. So, have a look at which apps are currently going crazy. Want a hint? Look at Viddy / SocialCam. They're getting *amazing* results, thanks to the OpenGraph actions they've implemented. So far there not a lot of these apps around, so...... ;-)

The fastest way to increase your likes is purchasing.

If you want to achieve quality likes, you can try to create a Facebook campaign, such as a sweepstakes. Liking your fan page is required to enter this campaign. We ever tried it on twitter and within few days, we got about 500 followers.

I agree with many other users who have suggested that you start with Good engaging content, without this foundation of value, people will not be tempted to like your page. The trick is to not do what the guru's teach, but to do what the guru's do. Find a fan page that has a massive fan base and look at the content and layout and see how you could make yours similar or even more appealing.

Why are you focusing on building out your FB page? If you plan on marketing to these folks long-term then I would definitely suggest building out landers and getting an email list going. Marketing via FB pages isn't very effective and while it's a great community tool, you would be better served with some of the other ways of building a list.

Creating good content to post on your page.

Creating incentives such as free giveaways, money, etc. for sharing a post on your page.

Using FB credits to advertise (maybe you can luck up and find some for free by searching or something)

We try to include a funny grammar joke every Friday, and these posts are some of the most popular ones we have. As we grow our Facebook presence, this will keep our fans involved - at least we hope! So we're not really trying to "go viral," but build a solid fan base that cares about our niche.

Actually you CAN start virality yourself!

We created a competition where people could compete and then it was up to the "mass" of people to vote for the person they thought should be the winner, every vote that people did was made a like on the page and shared to their wall "voted on ......"

Got new likes almost every minute, went from 500 likes to over 12K likes within a couple of weeks and most of them were real likes and it was a national campaign (would it have been a english and global competition you can imagine the effect)

You must have interesting content in your fan page to have a good chance of going viral. Try having contests that gives cool prizes to fans as well.
