60 thousand members but no list

I have about 60 thousand members on my website, who have signed and double verified (by clicking the link in the email), and I have never sent them any mass email.

If I want to communicate with them thru email then what are my options? I don't think that aweber lets you import. If I start from scratch then I will loose all of them.

I am looking for some advice on this.

Thanks

They do if you can prove they're genuinely "yours" and it's not a bought list, or whatever. They decide it on a case-by-case basis. Well worth discussing with both Aweber and GetResponse, I'd say.

Talk to Aweber support and prove that they are all genuine subscriptions.
You will probably need to send them some pictures and the website they subscribed to.

Thanks...just talked to aweber. They allow 2000 imports per day for first 5 days to verify the list. Then you can import 10000 per day. But my list of 55K will cost about 450/month.

That is costly, especially when I don't even have anything to offer them in the email

This is true ... Aweber's not cheap for a 60,000 list, but if they're at all responsive, you cover the monthly cost more or less from the start, by having something to promote after you've established contact, supplied value and built a little bit of credibility.

Thanks for the research on this. I was confused by if they allowed this or not.

Let your members pay you $1 each by giving them useful tips everyday for a month. You'll get $55,000 minus $450 is still $54,550.

      I don't know why I didn't think of that :-)

but then why stop at $1. Why not $2, $3 or even $10?

I guess it's about your site in your signature....

You can use an email newsletter-autoresponder plugin on your site and start sending them news and announcements to gauge the respond rates......

Adding a membership level for premium content it's always a good option

60,000 is a big number. Probably a bad idea to just install a mailing-list/autoresponder plugin and start mass sending like that. Your web-host will have your 'nads for supper when spam reports come in, as they inevitably would, and they quickly have their mailserver IPs blacklisted, which would be detrimental to other customers using the service.

If you can't or won't import them into a third-party system like AWeber, GetResponse, et al., you might see if you can get a good deal on an SMTP relay (check out Mailjet or something - seems reasonably priced, though I can't vouch for them, not being a customer) that you can hook up to.

EDIT: Just saw that you have a dedicated server. There's still a lot of risk in sending this number of marketing/commercial emails, though, so I wouldn't jump the gun without some careful consideration.

Yes... I should have mentioned there is risk involved. What I have done in the past is remove all the comcast, earthlink, aol emails.. all webmaster emails and crap like that to avoid platforms that have a spam report button readily available. Though it wasn't an opt in list.

Even with a double opt in list, it's still risky. Maybe set up a throttle and use google mail servers and revert back once everything is sent.

Because that's the easiest way to let them pay you. Use the urgency, let the price increase everyday like 0.01 so that they were froze on that price. Just think of a way you could convert that as buyers then later on, create a better products as up-sell. Create a compelling emails that make them beg you to include them on the membership you're creating. Soon, many opportunities will come on you because you don't have to worry about the autoresponder fee but thinking of a great idea to add to your business plan.

1- Of course Aweber is a great service. But as you said it is expensive.

Why not think about some other low cost, but also good, service? Google them.

2- To start with your list, it is NOT difficult. You can start by sending a good 7 days ecourse or video course with no promotions to get their trust. Make sure to use catchy email subjects to get high CTR.

After you finish these 7 days, start to send them affiliate links through next emails. You can find these promotional emails in Click Bank products, see the JV or affiliate pages of some of CB products. Usually they put promotional emails.

It is great if you have a blog and send them to your blog, where you can put banners, links, ads, ......

    I hope this will help.

I'd assume with a site membership of 60,000, you have a dedicated server, right?

If that is the case, install phplist and do it yourself.

  • Hi Jkiley, some months ago I've bought a local autoresponder to place on any domain you have or you buy.
It's called Autoresponder 365 and you can find it here somewhere on WSO or from domain name .com for around double price who is $97.

Anyway that is a good autoresponder, and there you can import all your subscribers without problems or notifications. I know it's pretty impossible to import contact in Aweber, because I talk with their support, but after their answer Ir emoved the account and I opened my own Autoresponder with my own rules.

The best thing is that Autoresponder 365 permits you to import unlimited contacts just from any txt file or inserting them with a CTRL+C and CTRL+V.
    Awesome!

    See you soon,

Why don’t you try GVO? I used GetResponse before, but you cannot compare it to GVO. These would be the advantages:

First, I am sure you will pay less for a year than the others were asking you for a single month.

Second, promote GVO to your subscribers and you should be able to make with your list an average of $30,000 per month, every month (they may even help you set up everything – it would take about 30 minutes, as they have all the letters ready to be sent to your subscribers).

I have been using their services for the last several months. I work for a web design agency and I can say I have been using a lot of different web hosting services, autoresponders, video producers and so on. But GVO is by far the most complete set of services I have ever used.

And another thing – the biggest internet marketers and most of the largest internet marketing companies in the world are using GVO (you can find a list on their site).

You can find a lot more amazing things on their website. All I want is to tell you about one more thing – the price.

$9.97 per month (or $1 for 7 days trial), and you get:

Domain Hosting – 4 domains hosting

Eresponder Pro - email marketing system

    Blogger Builder

Easy Video Producer - video marketing system

GVO Conference - Live conference room

    Prospecting System

    GVO Academy Professional coaching

A compensation plan that is unmatched in the internet marketing world

And many, many more (name it and it’s there)…

This is, in my opinion, the best thing you can do with your list.
It would make money for you and for your subscribers, as well.

    I hope this helps.

Use some free mass mailers to mail those 60K members only to send them to your aweber optin form to extract the "buyers" from that 60K to your new aweber list, in that way you can extract "fresh juice" and even if tis 10%-20% its worth it...

But make sure you qualify them with a buyer friendly offer (an offer with potential for backend promotion - targeted freebie) and not a blatant freebie in your aweber optin..

Do this 2-3 times from the mass mailer to stuff into your aweber list from where the magic happens

    Thank you
    Jay
