Brainstorm: Private School Marketing Ideas

I'm going to be meeting with the Headmaster of my daughter's private school to discuss marketing ideas, both online and off. While I have a list of ideas, why not leverage what I consider to be the best marketing forum in the word!

Target market: Affluent individuals with children aged kindergarten through high school. Annual tuition plus incidentals - $20k.

Competition: This school is secular and primary competition would consist of Catholic schools. Minor competition from public schools.

I'll not divulge my initial list so as not to sway the direction of any responses.

Let's see some good ideas. If I agree, I'll PM you for your PayPal email and 'send you a beer / drink' (still wish this new forum had that feature).

I've dealt with this issue. My mom started a school when
I was a kid and about 10 months ago it was in really dire
straights. We used direct mail to get people to come to an
open house... but there is still doubt as to whether the
community will continue to support the school... it may just
not be affluent enough in that area.

I have the letter I wrote - I can share it with you - direct
mail can get pricey. If your school has any kind of marketing
budget (probably doesn't) you could do some cool stuff,
ie... Dan Kennedy's "Marketing To The Affluent" book.

You can call me if you want. I'll try to help you out. 310-359-8494

Thanks Loren. I'll give you a call tomorrow. And I've already purchased Kennedy's book to donate to the school.

To avoid any misconceptions, the school is not new and not in dire straights. The marketing budget is very substantial. But, like any business, it's always good to get fresh ideas, especially in this market where jobs are being lost and investments have substantially dropped in value.
