I am posting this in responce to the latest rants and raves about google.

Can We Just Admit Its About The Money!

To the fan boys:
Google is an advertising company nothing more.
Google is not trying to make the net a better place
Google doesnt care about your or your "user experience" any more than Walmart cares about selling me "quality product"or mc'donalds does about selling me "quality hamburgers".
Google is not the friend of the little guy, they campaigned AGAISNT net neutrality and for CIPPA.
Google is not dominant, MS is 3x bigger and Apple is 4x bigger, look at googles 2011 FY statements they are a 1 trick pony period.
Google doesnt care about the environment, or making the world a beter place, or fairy dust and cookie dreams.

So can we just admit its about the money. Google does what it does so it can make more money period.

To those that had their ratings smashed:
Goolge owes you NOTHING
Google doesnt even know you exist it is NOT personal it is just business.
Google is under no obligation to tell you why it does thing, do you tell google everything you do?
Google got on top and beat much larger companies like Yahoo by offering a superior product at that point in time.

So can we all just admit its about the money. If you or I lose ranking we dont care that our content is not being viewed, we care because our ads are not being clicked.

I tried buying links and similar a few years ago, and then really didn't do it again. I have better things to do with my time like making software that helps people, content that inspires people, and processes that organize people.

It is okay to contact me! I have been developing software since 1999, creating many popular products like phpLD.

I think your points are correct for the most part, although from what I gather the management at Google has taken the success of Facebook somewhat personally.

As the workers at Google are only human, from the CEO to the floor sweeper, at times they are likely to take actions that fulfill their own needs to the detriment of the company. Anything they do to try to "defeat" Facebook, unless it specifically increases their net revenue, would be an example of just such a personal action.
