Best Amazon Alternative

Hey all,

I live in one of those states that Amazon dropped like a hot potato shortly after a certain tax law was implemented, just days after becoming one of their affiliates and integrating these beautiful, highyl contextual ads on a test site (they REVOLVED and everything, *sniff*).

Anyway, my question is, what do you think is the best network for marketing physical products besides Amazon? Any suggestions? I just started up with Linkshare but it's still too early to tell.

Thanks.

Have you used Commission Junction? They don't have nearly as many physical products as Amazon... but certainly a great variety and in my opinion, generally higher payouts.

Not yet, but I've thought about it. Something about their sign-up page always stops me... strange.

If you let "something" always stop you, there will be no progress. Get over it and get ready to move forward.

Woah there Coach I never mentioned any problem to the extent of which you seem to be referring, but I do appreciate the sentiment all the same.

If you're really interested- I think the problem stems from some misconception about CJ I picked up while learning about IM.

My comment wasn't meant to be critical (in a negative sorta way). More of a push or a prod to help you move forward.

For me, when I realize "something" keeps me from taking action (whatever the obstacle is, real or imagined) I'll try to find a way over, around, or through that "something." And you know what, whatever it was seems so much smaller when looking back at it than it did when facing it.

            Peace

Try it. Nothing to lose, right? Their back-end is actually quite easy to use. Then you can come back here and thank me for making you sign up.

Commission Junction definitely has the best variety of merchants but also take a look at Share-a-sale.

I can thank you now, ha.

Sorry, just overly happy about the fact I can use my 'Thank' button now. Best push-button software there is.

I don't know how much you were making off your sites- but if you had a reasonable income from them contact a tax professional and a lawyer and theres ways you can set up an LLC in a state that is Amazon friendly.

      How about skimlinks?

      Pro's
      You can still use amazon
      You get paid with paypal
Easy to set up, and they turn certain words into affiliate links

      Cons
They take 25%... that said, you make around 6.3%... as, their amazon commissions are 8.5%
They're a little slow at updating, usually a day or 2 behind.

This is very helpful, but I'm uncertain of the legal implications. At this point in time, I think it would be more worth my time to simply promote via a different network than research legal stuff- certainly more fun anyway. I just signed up with Amazon right before getting the boot, and hadn't earned anything from them, so no need to think about what I'm missing.

In addition to some of the other physical product affiliate sites, check out Skimlinks.com which can still let you keep your Amazon links and run through their service.

Good idea Ashera. Ya if that works you can find someone to set up your llc for around 300 off elance. But its gonna take like 6 weeks to get it, maybe even longer. If you can't wait ad can pay. They usually will charge another 300 to put a rush on it and you get it I think in two weeks.

But ya if thats not a option they CJ and share-a-sale are your best options.
