Product Intro Video - Can I autorun from DVD?

4 replies
Hello,

I have created an intro video for one of our products. It's currently in .mp4 format. I want to be able to burn it onto a CD/DVD so that when people insert the CD/DVD, the movie will automatically launch.

One thing I also need to overcome is the movie mentions the fact that there is a PDF file on the CD/DVD that they need to print off. Is there a way to run the video but also still be able to access the PDF file?

Thanks for any help or input!

Cheers,

Dave

    I've done that millions of times but you have to create a playable DVD out of the file. Your DVD software will have the option to start automatically with that file.

    I've also made a playable dvd with an additional file on the disc for downloading but it was a PITA. I would consider other options for delivering the .pdf.

      Hello,

      Thaks for the input. What software do you recommend or is there something on my Win 7 machine that can handle this?

      What about something like an autorun menu of some sort that has a button for the PDF and a button to view the movie? Is that possible?

      Cheers,

      Dave

    If you are targeting just window machines then you can create a file on the dvd called autorun.inf and tell it which program to run etc. I usually do this to display a webpage that lets folks do various tasks from their browser. you should be able to launch a movie player the same way. I know this works on windows but have not tried it with a Mac or other devices...

    example autorun.inf:

    [autorun]
    shellexecute=index.html

    good luck,
