List Building

I'm sure you guys have all heard the old adage "$1 per sub per month"

I'm curious if you guys have been getting higher, lower or about the same.

I've been personally getting higher than that (about $3) but my list is 90% buyers with very little junk traffic.

Just wanted to see what fellow warriors are getting.

    Certainly couldn't give you an answer. To actually find out what a subscriber is worth, in my opinion, could take a year to find out. For example, say you promote $10 or $20 products weekly. A subscriber you have... or a few... might rarely be interested in those, but down the road a $397 product comes along and they grab it. All of a sudden you have a lot of subscribers worth "some amount", and this subscriber... the one you thought it was worth $0... all of a sudden becomes hugely profitable. If your subscribers indeed bring you approximately $3 each though (per month, I presume?), on average, sounds good to me.

      Very true Ross, my $3 is based on about 15 months of averages. It does vary depending on how often you mail your list and also the relationship you have with your list. I know a few guys can pull 10+ per sub per month with even a small list, but it has taken them months to build that relationship with their list to get to that point.

      I have done well, and I really have the warrior forums to thank for it. I can't even begin to tell you all the great information I learned as a result of these forums.

      I like to grow my list fast, and honestly when you are doing a lot of adswaps and joint ventures you will get a lot of unsubs (freebie seekers) but its part of the business.

      I'm of the school of thought of "Build a massive quantity of subs, then show them great products and great offers and then build the relationship"

      I know there are many people who may disagree with this but it has worked well for me.

      It all a numbers game, but it really comes down to providing a great offer to a interested prospect.

    My "free offer" subscriber list doesn't bring me anywhere near what my "buyer" customer list brings me. The truly put a number on what my average subscriber is worth for me... i would say about $0.70 per sub. I've found better results by simply stoping building the "free leads" list, and simply drive people to my sales letter page.

    Sometimes lower than a dollar; sometimes higher than three.

    There are way to many variables in my list to give you a straight up answer. Sometimes, I just send offers out to buyers, other times to everyone. Some weeks I'll spend most of my time trying to warm up the cold prospects. It varies to often for me to give you a 'real' answer.

    However, congrats on the consistent $3+, that's pretty good. All you got to do now is build a massive list and you'll be rich for life.

    Depends on the niche, the reason your subscribers joined your list, how well you "sell" and a number of other variables.

    For example, we have a list of over 180,000 subscribers in the gardening niche and we're around $0.23 per subscriber. They're not buyers. They're info-seekers.

        Not at all! We're completely satisfied with that Paul. I just wanted to make the point that you can't base it solely on dollars per sub or even per buyer. There's too many variables.

    i think a more accurate way of determining a sub value is only going by buyers

    so $1 a month per buyer

    this is a lot more accurate because you could have a list of 10k prospects but if none of them buy anything then that numbers counts for nothing

    if you are getting $3 per sub thats great awesome stuff

    i havent really worked out what i get per subscriber but i have a lot of buyers now and a lot of prospects so i may be able to work it out by the end of the year and get a good estimate

    it all depends on how targeted your list is though

    out of your 180,000 list if you segment it so its lazer targeted to what somone is after you will probably get better conversions. I dont know what you have done so far but i wouldnt of thought you have 180k subs all interested in mowing the lawn and lawn mowers

    i take it its in the gardening niche in general

    i try to keep my lists lazer targeted then if i do send them any free info or a product recommendation my open rates, click throughs and conversions will be much better

    Yeah, they have come in from a number of different articles on our site related to Gardening. It's hard to really narrow down what they would pay for.
