Getresponse email formating question

Hi,

I send out my newsletters in html format to be able to track the open rate. But I try to make them look as if they were in plain text.

I paste my text in the plain text box, wrap the long lines and copy this into the html box.

The problem is, the emails look good in all email readers ACCEPT in the iphone email reader. Here the text is too small and it doesn't automatically "zoom in" like with other emails (if you know what I mean).

Other marketers seem to be able to send html emails which look good in iphones.

How do I do that, what do I do wrong? I've tried everything.

Could the reason for this behavior be the automatically added signature (address) which seem to be formated in a certain way...

Thanks,
Eddie

    Hi Eddie,

Feel free to ping me on Skype or PM and I'll see what I can do to sort this out. I don't use the iPhone so I don't have an answer off the top of my head. I can take it to the team too.

Let me know if you are using the new beta Email Creator or not too please.

    Regards,
    Jim

I'm an avid user of Getresponse, however I'm not sure of your problem. I've not had the same issues your facing.

Although two great tricks that will help are - sometimes when you paste your email into the HTML wysiwyg it goes into double line spaces - to prevent this use enter+shift.

If there's a lot of white space at the end of your email - go into the html editor and put a break at the end
<br /> this will fix the white space.

    I hope this helps...

Just tried the new Email Creator and it doesn't work either. I've already send an email to support.

    @Malachi Kelly
Tried that already, I checked the html editor and completely cleaned the code, I even tried pasting pure text in there.

I'm not sure if I can explain the phenomenon further, when you open an email in the iphone email reader it automatically fits the text into the screen. This works with plain text and html.

When I open my getresponse email, it doesn't fit the screen, it is way to small, I have to use my fingers to zoom in.

When I send a plain text email from GT then it works... but I want to track the open rates...

    Sorry for the confusion.

Get screen shots. Support will ask for them.

How does it look with the inbox preview?

Good idea thanks. The preview looks completely normal.

    @Jim
    Thanks for the offer.

I just received an email form a marketer on my iphone. When I opened it there it first looked for a second like my GT email, small and unreadable, then it "zoomed in".

I'm almost sure that the problem is related to that formated auto-signature from GT with address and unsubscribe link.

I got word from the getresponse support and the answer is very disappointing.

I located the problem in the forced signature they append (your address and un-subscribe link). This signature is center formated in a fixed width table.

That's the reason that messages are very difficult to read in iphones.

They said that it's not possible to add their signature unformatted, which is very disappointing because all the others are already doing it (aweber, mailchimp etc.).

Keep at them and they might add it/modify it. Really shouldnt take them very long.

I'm getting ready to try and have them modify the background colors. The new editor doesnt change all the background. Just a table area. Makes emails with background colors look bad.

    Hi Eddie,

I've spoken to our product dev manager and we are working on this. I'm not sure why your support contact didn't mention that, but I apologize for any confusion. I've asked what the ETA is and will update you when I hear back.

    Regards,

    Hi Jim,

    Thank you for your efforts.

That is actually good news, but I have to say that I am really starting to get annoyed by GT.

I am a customer since 2008 and since I've started to sell products a few weeks ago I am constantly running into problems... things that are taken for granted at aweber are simply not possible (or in development like my problem with ejunkie)... and the support isn't helpful with the difficult things.

Their response for the above stated problem was after 9 days of consulting with their "IT department":

I have contacted our IT Team and they confirmed
that such option is not available.

      Hi Eddie,

I've been waiting for a response from E-Junkie since March 28th.

My developers tell me that they cannot find any API documentation on E-Junkie.

And the integration that E-Junkie created for Aweber is not an off the shelf solution for us.

I was told that we'd be creating a guide on how E-Junkie customers can integrate with GetResponse in their E-Junkie accounts.

I'll look into what the status of this guide is.

From E-Junkie's Forum I don't hold out much hope for assistance:

"At present this is the only integration path we can suggest, as our Development team is fully occupied with internal projects for the foreseeable future, implementing major system improvements and popular-demand new features and functionality."

      I'll keep you posted.

      Cheers,

      Mick

    Hi Eddie,

I want to help sort this out. I'm going to PM you my email and I would appreciate it if you could forward the entire email to me. I will take this directly to our customer service manager. I've already spoken wtih the dev manager as mentioned above. I'm also going to ask Mick Kitor, who works with integrations to address your comments on e-junkie.

For now, please consider me your personal alternative contact for any issues which you feel have not been addressed effectively. In fact, any time you need anything, just ping me.

    Jim,

Do you have notepad or wordpad?

If so, Copy and paste the text into notepad first and then copy it from notepad into the html editor.

I believe this is what you're looking for and it should come out fine on all platforms.

    Hi Eddie,

    Apparently I was unnecessarily pessimistic.

I just found out that the GetResponse Dev team is communicating with the E-Junkie Dev team.

E-Junkie is making some significant changes to their interface, so they are not developing anything new. Once they have implemented the changes GetResponse will be able to work on an integration.

    Cheers,

    Mick

This is still a problem. Any news on a fix? It's really hard to read the tiny text from GetResponse emails on an iPhone.
