It takes money to make money...but how much???

Hello Warriors-

Just a question. We all know it takes money to market online and to get your message/product out there. Just wondering what a decent ROI (return on investment) percentage is. I have been getting about 30% back on my money and wanted to gauge how I am doing.

Please, if we can just talk percentages it would really be beneficial for everyone. Thanks and good luck to all.

500% ROI is expected in most industries. Even if doubling your money to make 100% profit, I'd take it.

So roughly speaking you spend $100 to make $500. If that makes sense?

At least you're making a profit though, many spend more than they make for a while before seeing anything.

It ALL depends, for example last week I spent 1900 to only make 700 in profit.
I bought a car and flipped it.

this really depends, there are some campaigns I am running that cost me $1,000 a week in advertising and there are others I only invest $100 a week.

When I first started this business I had zero money at all. I bought a $10 ebook and had to figure out the free way to do everything. I made $300 my very first week in IM and just under $3,000 my first month.

I took every single penny and re-invested it back in.

So there really is no answer to your question. Basically as much as you can afford, become a master of traffic and conversions, and you'll be ok.

I personally am a master at direct response sales copy and offer creation, and sending traffic with paid advertising. So I feel that is a good area to focus on, and you can get started with as little as $100 or as big as $10,000.

I could have a $100 investment turned into a few hundred thousand dollars in no time while another person would have it blown in a day. It all really depends on your level of skill and how well you can convert traffic.

100% ROI would be considered a decent figure.

Lol 500% ROI is to be expected? You're the first person I know who has ever "expected" at least 500% (unless of course that was sarcasm that I didn't pick up on).

130% ROI is decent (which is what you're doing by profiting at 30% currently sine 100% = break even). Typically on large scale PPC campaign I gladly scale anything at 30%+.

How many percentage you can get just depends on your business and the time you start your business. If in short time you can get 30%,then it is good enough.

I agree - your 30% is great, especially if you are new to IM. Although many would tell you otherwise, there are a lot of people who loose money for many months (years?!!) before/if they make anything.

If you're starting out on 30% you're on the right track

Yes it takes money to make money and also the attitude for spending that money. You spend a lot of money just to get into the position of doing business. That's upfront investment in business.

For me it was my computer, laptop, internet access, domains, web hosting and all that. What I earned I put that back in my business until I earned enough money to cover my expenses.

Having initial investment is always going to make a big difference. From my experience I really don't see any way around creating real value and really helping out people. Content quality is key but you really have to work at it to create a following or create buzz online. If you can manage to generate buzz online then most likely you can benefit your site and sell some products online. The online community is everything, however I think.

It all depends in what you want to do and the timeline.

One trend I noticed around in forums is people getting a cracked program or something (thats 0$ investment) and then going around and selling fiver services with that (destroying sites / selling services to ignorant seo experts).
