Ever feel bummed as though you're almost FORCED to throw in the towel?

I just had to take a moment maybe to vent, to let off some steam, regroup my thoughts, or whatever one wants to call it.

Has anyone ever felt bummed almost as though every time you try to take a step forward, you wind up two or three steps back? Or felt that every time you tried to make something work, something else wants to jump itself in front of you as another obstacle to push you to the Fail Box?

If so, how or what was the best way that you tackled that feeling and got back on track? I'm curious.

Just a bit overwhelmed, not with the typical "what path do I take, there's so many of them" or things of that nature, but just frustrated almost as though I'm meant to just go back to a 9-5 job that only pays (or may pay me only $14 an hour which won't really cut it)

The basis of everything is extremely limited time. I'm beyond limited in time since I'm a stay at home dad and our 2 year old demands lots of attention and time. Daycare just costs way too much and of course all relatives and what not are pretty much working themselves. lol. The part time daycare is a push as is, but even with the 3 hours I get on 3 days in a week, those hours fly right before I know it, and I wind up with what I feel is very little to show for it.

It doesn't help of course being unemployed and seeing my savings slowly diminish as I try to use as little as possible while using some of the money I do make from my websites now. I can say that is a definite Blessing, but between trying to keep my savings from completely diminishing, and reinvesting a bit into my sites, I don't feel I'm making much strides forward at all, and that's another thing that frustrates me, that and my wife paying a chunk of things (counting blessings that she's working) doesn't add joy to my plate either.

Just lots of things of that nature has my mind fried a bit, and feeling that maybe I'm being forced to throw in the towel and quit.

The funny thing is that I feel I have some potential to make money, at least I hope so. Things like making a bit of money to get a couple of smaller checks through Adsense, or some affiliate sales once in awhile to which I finally got a small CB check, selling a few of my ebooks to some people, and the sales I've managed to make with my hip hop websites shows I have the potential to make something happen I believe, but I'm nowhere near enough to garner the equivalent of a 40k or more a year career out of it.

And that, along with spending some money of what I make back on advertising, reinvesting in my websites with banner ads, domain renewals, and other misc. things, and the lack of time to try to make things happen even more, it seems I'm in a rut... very little time, and at a standstill or slow decrease of the funds I have accumulated.

So with the odds stacked against you to where it feels like you don't want to, but are almost forced to throw in the towel, how do you cope with that feeling, and try to turn it around with very limited time to work each week, and make something happen?

Any suggestions on pushing away the frustrations and making some money happen? Any suggestions on tackling time? Obviously I couldn't sleep in the daytime and work at night because I'm taking care of the little one in the daytime. Lol.

And any suggestions to some projects that may not take nearly as much time to put together or do, without spending tons of money on outsourcing, that may have the potential to add some extra funds?

Sorry for the venting session as I mentioned. I just wondered if anyone ever went through the feeling bummed moments and how you coped best with them to get back on track?

Thank you for the listening eyes to this post. I appreciate it in advance..

Sheer persistence is the hallmark of any entrepreneur.

And just when you think this is never going to happen for you, right at very this crucial moment in time... you're probably closer to success than you dare imagine.

      Case in point yesterday...

I wanted to buy a new single front seat to replace the double front seat in my motorhome.

So off I toddle off up to the scrapyard without my coat in the pouring rain. Jump out, welly boots on to plough over and around the large number of vans in the vehicle dismantlers yard covered by 6" deep water. All the while it's blowing a right gale with the rain absolutely lashing down and I'm drenched right through head to toe.

Tool bag in hand, I looked at one van, no joy, another van, another, then another, then another and yet another - still no joy.

And then on the verge of thinking this was a wasted journey spied another suitable vehicle tucked away in the corner. Hey presto, it's the correct van.

Daren't get my hopes up just yet, I bet it hasn't got the single seat I'm looking for just like all the others. Wrench the door open and look inside the old minibus. Lo and behold tucked away at the back is the ideal seat I'm looking for bolted down with four hefty looking bolts to the floor.

Get down on the floor on all fours scrunched up at some stupid angle (with cold rainwater dripping down the crack of my ass driving me absolutely mental lol) and start undoing the first bolt. Easy. Nice.

Second bolt. Simple. Woo hoo this is the way to go.

Third bold off in a jiffy.

      Fourth bolt...

Ten minutes later, you f'ing lil blighter, it has me swearing like a trooper under my breath. An hour later still no joy and one broken socket wrench from applying too much pressure on it.

Thirty minutes later, now an hour and a half total on this single last bolt, I'm belting it with a hammer partly hoping it would snap off (fat chance) or pretending it was a load of newbies from the Warrior Forum and me letting off some steam safely lol. (Sorry folks, you should know me by now LOL).

Finally... on the verge of giving up thinking, I'll have to come back tomorrow (today) with a better socket wrench, I took at it again with the oldest tool in my arsenal. An old monkey wrench from the 1950's. The most rickety but strongest tool I had on me.

Tried this way and that, still no bloody joy.

Finally I screamed at it like some demented mad f'ker on acid, ya *******, come off ya lil f'king wanker or else lol (at the top of my voice - the other guys working on the vehicles around me must have thought I was absolutely bonkers lol) and I don't know but I think I might have scared this bolt a little bit for on the next pull with all my strength... it gave a mm or two.

Quite literally, right on the verge of giving up, another 10 seconds and I would have done but giving my all on that very last pull...

...she gave way a full quarter turn.

2 minutes later I've got her off and with a whoop of delight remove the seat from the minibus.

I'm now the proud owner of one filthy dirty but intact single seat for the front of my motorhome which when cleaned up, will come up bright and clean as a brand spanking new penny.

Moral of the story, never ever give up.

Just when you think it's your only option another door will always open up for you. It's funny the universe is like that. Just keep at it and keep positive. You WILL get there eventually with a good dollop of persistence.

      Triumphantly,

      Mark Andrews

I have been there myself. The best way I deal with the frustration is to step away for a couple of days and catch my breath. This may sound like it would be counter productive but it seems to renew my spirits and make me twice as productive as before.

If you believe in what you are doing but it is not producing monetarily like you think it should, take a day or two off from IM and clear your mind of those responsibilities. When you come back I bet you will have some new ideas and will have a renewed interest and steadfastness.

      Hope this helps.

What the heck is that kind of a post sitetalkscam?

Yes, I feel frustrated. If anyone says they don't feel that at some point in an entrepreneurial career, they're lying.

Genycis, what you're feeling is normal.

What you do about it is what will separate you from those who fail.

When I first started, I was overwhelmed because I took on way too many things. I narrowed it down and concentrated on one aspect of the biz at a time.

You might have to go back to the 9-5 and think about that. That should be a great motivator to make something work. You said yourself that the $14 an hour won't cut it.

I remember when my kid was 2. Wow was that hard. I couldn't get anything done. I waited for nap time and worked like crazy. The key to only having a few hours during the day to work is being organized.

Every night before I go to bed, I write a list of 5 things I will accomplish the next day. There's nothing like that feeling of being able to cross them off.

If you need to write down a specific schedule, do it. Hour by hour.

When a kid comes into your life, as I am sure you know, life changes. Completely changes.

Have you set goals? What are your short term and long term goals? And it's not good enough just to write down goals, you have to finish it by making a plan to achieve the goals. A blueprint of your own. To success.

    Most people start small.

Figure out what made those CB sales and the hip hop sales and capitalize on that.

Reinvesting money back into the business is a common practice for start-ups. Maybe you can try to find another method (other than the banner ads) to increase revenue.

Any suggestions on pushing away the frustrations and making some money happen?
Yes, think about answering to some yahoo and growing his business 9-5 instead of yours. That would be one of my greatest motivators.

Any suggestions on tackling time? Obviously I couldn't sleep in the daytime and work at night because I'm taking care of the little one in the daytime. Lol.
Yes. Write down a schedule. I know you're going to be dog tired by the time the kid goes down to bed, but that's the time you need to work for a few hours. You gotta put the time in now. Put that kid in bed early, roll your sleeves up and get productive.

And any suggestions to some projects that may not take nearly as much time to put together or do, without spending tons of money on outsourcing, that may have the potential to add some extra funds?
What are you good at? Writing? Mixing music? Even if it's not something you enjoy but you're good at, outsource yourself to make some extra money.

We all have the feelings of despair. Failure. Fear.

    You can conquer those feelings.

Get that "can do" attitude and make a plan. If you give it your all and you don't succeed, at least you can be satisfied knowing that you gave it everything you had.

    I wish you the best.

Thank you Lori, I was wondering the same thing. I'm bummed a bit, not suicidal! LOL! I don't ever plan on take my own life, especially out of frustration or stress.

Thank you, I'm glad I'm a bit normal and not in the "quitters" category, though I really don't want to quit anyway. lol. I know I do have quite a few things on my plate, so I know I do need to reduce some of the spreading out. Maybe a site each week will help.

You might have to go back to the 9-5 and think about that. That should be a great motivator to make something work. You said yourself that the $14 an hour won't cut it.
Oh yeah, I'm not wanting to necessarily go to the 14 or less an hour route, as that wouldn't necessarily help as most of that check itself would go towards the daycare bill, so it'd be as though my wife is still taking on the bulk herself.

I remember when my kid was 2. Wow was that hard. I couldn't get anything done. I waited for nap time and worked like crazy. The key to only having a few hours during the day to work is being organized.
You aren't kidding!! And with him taking shorter naps at times or waking up and then going back to sleep and so forth, even those naps aren't the easiest to work through. Lol!

I'll definitely try to do this... it may be a big help, even if I'm able to check off 4 of that 5.

When a kid comes into your life, as I am sure you know, life changes. Completely changes.
      So very true!!!

I've been trying to figure out how to capitalize even further on the CB sales, and debated on creating a website to promote. The only thing I know would've gained me those sales are the tweets I sent out to promote them periodically.

Reinvesting money back into the business is a common practice for start-ups. Maybe you can try to find another method (other than the banner ads) to increase revenue.
I'm dreaming of the day that I can say I'm reinvesting less into my businesses and seeing more in profits. I'll continue looking more and more into other options to increase revenue. Seems banner ads and PPC haven't been the best option for me, maybe not yet. (still upset that I made a mistake that shut my Adwords down, though maybe that was a blessing in disguise)

Yes, think about answering to some yahoo and growing his business 9-5 instead of yours. That would be one of my greatest motivators.
LOL! Trust, I want to be the yahoo that I make money for, not feeding some corporate bigwig that doesn't even know who I am. lol! It'd be great to one day see that I'm making a few grand a month for myself. I keep dreaming and this is what keeps me from completely throwing in the towel. Lol

I've been brainstorming a bit more of this as well but also want to make sure I don't task myself beyond more than what I already have going on. But I'll definitely keep giving this some more work.

    Genycis,
Have you thought about ghostwriting to hold you over until the tide turns in your favor? I know you said time's limited, but you could post an offer in the for hire section and get some work pretty quickly. You could scale it to the time you have by only accepting as much work as you can handle.

Above all else, don't give up.

    Wish you the best.

    I can relate a bit.

I had my first sale a few weeks ago and today, over 2 weeks later, see that it resulted in a refund. Granted I've made more sales since then, but it still stinks.

Do things like that bring you down a little? Hell yes. Is it going to cause me to close up shop? Hell no.

If you research successful people, the mantra you will find common among a lot of them is this: "I became successful because I felt I had no other choice." Meaning, if you feel in your heart that your life is supposed to be a certain way, then that is where you find your drive.

One person in particular comes to mind, Robert Herjavec. I remember hearing or reading somewhere that he said, "For my own mental well being, I simply had to become successful." The most powerful moves can be made when your ships are burnt behind you. Or at least when you feel that they are. That you lack any other choice but to succeed.

The problem for a lot of people is they get comfortable, they don't have powerful emotions driving their need to succeed. So they quit and go back to whatever it was they were doing. This is why you hear so many stories of success that all start with the main character reaching rock-bottom. At that point in the main character's life, they finally have something happen to them that basically forces them to push up and beyond themselves to get to where they want to be. They have strong emotional force that pushes them. Such a mindset removes all obstacles.

Someone had posted a motivational video on here a while back that had a story in it. The summary is that a man wanted to be successful and begged this very successful businessman to teach him so that he could emulate the teacher's success. So, the man told the wannabe to meet him at the beach. Once at the beach, the successful man walked out into the water, up to his shoulders and told the wannabe to follow him. The guy thought he was crazy, but followed anyway. Once out there, the guru pushed the guy under the water and held him there... to the point he was about to start drowning. Then, he let him up for air and said, "When you want success as bad as you wanted air while you were under the water, then you will be successful."

I guess what helps is to find your true drive, the real reason why you want to be successful. Use that emotion and you won't have many days like this, because obstacles mean nothing to you if your drive is strong enough. GL.

One tip I can give you is don't just judge your success or your worth in this game in $$.

Look at what you've learned, look at your skills, they're worth more than any dollar amount. I'd suggest if you ask most successful internet marketers to choose between losing all their money, or all their IM skills, most would go with the former.

You said that you've made some money from your sites, so obviously you have something going for you, and while the small amount you're making now may make it seem like you've wasted time or gone nowhere, I can guarantee you that the skills you've learned in that time are invaluable.

Keep going, keep learning. The only way you'll ever fail, is if you give up.

I totally know how you are feeling. I was trying to juggle being a single mum of a pre-teen boy with health problems that required me to homeschool, together with trying to figure out IM to make ends meet. The learning curve was far steeper than any WSO I bought suggested, and to be honest, I felt like I was a complete failure because I couldn't seem to make the riches that they promised "even a 7 year old could do"!

I did however take up some casual work that had extra bonuses, which is something that you could look at too, and that is mystery shopping. Now before you all groan and say 'yeah whatever', it was a great solution in my case.

I registered for several different companies and took on jobs that I could take my son along with me. (In fact, he enjoyed it so much he started doing it a few years later for some extra cash!) Don't get me wrong, it didn't make me rich, but it eased the pressure a little and we got plenty of freebies along the way. Some companies had us buying KFC or in other cases, I might have had to purchase a product. Either way, they reimburse the cost of the purchase, pay you for doing the job, and you get to keep whatever you bought. (Often I could then go on to sell it off on Ebay and profit twice! )

As for day to day pressures, well that was hard going and still is. I didn't have the time or energy to focus for any length of time, and as a result my own IM efforts never really took off. I decided to take a different direction into offering IM support such as proofreading, transcription, backlinking, etc which is along the lines of the PA work I used to do before being at home full time. The bonus for me was that I could allocate small amounts of time for each job and know that each job got finished. IM on the other hand seemed never-ending and overwhelming under the circumstances.

I'm working full time offline now that my son is older, but there are still demands on my time as he still has health issues that prevent him working at this stage. My offline job is a complete soul-sucker at times lol but I keep up with my online business because I love the customer service, and of course the extra income all helps. My longer term goal is to build up residual income with niche sites, etc but for now I have to accept my limitations and enjoy doing what I can do.

So the moral of my long-winded story I guess is to take a moment to look at what little you can do in your own unique situation, rather than the huge mountain of things that you obviously can't. If you are making any money at all from your online endeavours so far, you are already a step ahead of most! Take pride in that, since statistically that is a huge achievement right there!

And last but certainly not least, take good care of your relationship. Make sure you let your wife how much you appreciate her hard work as well. When you are the person at home, it is easy to focus too much on self, and forget the struggles of those nearest and dearest. Even watching someone you love feel overwhelmed can be a huge burden to bear. You are very blessed to have that relationship - cherish it!

Please flick me a pm and I'll see if I can help in any way. Having been there, done that, got the t-shirt... I'd love to help you out if I can!

In my opinion, if you have NOT ever felt this way then you aren't trying hard enough. I believe we all go through these ups and downs but it's how we deal with them that really counts. Just keep on soldiering on through and remember the reason you are in this business -- the type of lifestyle you are trying to create for yourself.

Whenever I have a down day I always just think back to how I felt when my alarm went off at 5:15am every morning for work. It pretty quickly puts things back into perspective for me.

I was running a consulting business when the boy was 2.

Whever I got call, I had to RUN to the garage and lay down on the floor boards in the car so I could get those precious few minutes that would result in hundreds of dollars in sales.

I'll NEVER forget laying on the floor board in the car in the garage and hearing the kid come into the garage yelling "MA MAY!"

Now mind you before you parents read me the riot act, I am a good mom. It takes one helluva juggling act to be a stay at home parent and an entreprenuer.

One of the things I am most proud of - I RAISED MY KID. Not a friggin daycare. I didn't have some daycare attendant telling me that my kid did this or that for the first time because he was NOT in day care.

I was the one who watched him take his first steps, his first words, ... Yes, there were times throughout a day that I was not right there with him. Show me a daycare where the minimum hourly wage workers cared more than me and I'll shut up.

I DID take the few minutes it took to talk to a potential client. And I did tell them was a stay at home/work from home mom (especially when it couldn't be helped).

You would be surprised at the number of my clients who competely understood.

Heck yes, you are NOT in the quitters category. GIVE IT YOUR ALL. Sorry to shout but I have regrets and had I the opportunity do it again, I would eliminate some of the regrets. If I gave it my "all," I can live with that.

Glad to hear you're not suicidal but a typical response from someone who wants their signature in a high PR forum.

Oh yeah, I'm not wanting to necessarily go to the 14 or less an hour route, as that wouldn't necessarily help as most of that check itself would go towards the daycare bill, so it'd be as though my wife is still taking on the bulk herself.
Please make sure you give this the necessary consideration. When it's a wash, why the heck would you go "to work?" I know you'll weigh the day care costs versus you staying home and eventually kicking butt.

There will always be blessings in disguise. I'm close to 50 years old and it took close to 20 years to realize that there are blessings in disguise. : ) It's the difference between knowing it's a blessing in disguse than a profit sucking machine where we determine what's in our best interest.

You aren't kidding!! And with him taking shorter naps at times or waking up and then going back to sleep and so forth, even those naps aren't the easiest to work through. Lol!

I cried like a baby when the naps ended. I'm not kidding. I cried like a baby. But I persevered. I KNEW I was destined for something better than the 9-5 grind helping someone else make a gosh damn fortune from ME!

LOL! Trust, I want to be the yahoo that I make money for, not feeding some corporate bigwig that doesn't even know who I am. lol! It'd be great to one day see that I'm making a few grand a month for myself. I keep dreaming and this is what keeps me from completely throwing in the towel. Lol
Damn straight. I AM the yahoo! I made money for lawyers for over a decade. I billed my time at a measly hourly wage and they took advantage of it and billed it 10x what I made.

I think that's about the time I thought "Oh no you din't." And from that I grew a business that utilized the skills I learned working for lawyers.

Yang in there guy. Don't ever doubt your ability. YOU can do this! Tell yourself that every day, every minute of the day. You do NOT want to work for some yahoo! -- You want to be the yahoo! And you will be.

Ok. Sorry. Long winded. Reminds me of a quote from Will Smith. He always thought he would be rich. He never doubted it.

By God that means you can too! Don't ever doubt it!

Please make sure you give this the necessary consideration. When it's a wash, why the heck would you go "to work?" I know you'll weigh the day care costs versus you staying home and eventually kicking butt.

There will always be blessings in disguise. I'm close to 50 years old and it took close to 20 years to realize that there are blessings in disguise. : ) It's the difference between knowing it's a blessing in disguse than a profit sucking machine where we determine what's in our best interest.

I cried like a baby when the naps ended. I'm not kidding. I cried like a baby. But I persevered. I KNEW I was destined for something better than the 9-5 grind helping someone else make a gosh damn fortune from ME!

Amen, amen, and amen to everything you said!! Lol! Thank you again for everything you had to say... and yes, I'm glad that I was here over a daycare, though of course I still would have preferred to be making big bucks and letting my wife be home instead. Hopefully that will be the case before our 2nd one. lol.

Sounds like you pushed through the obstacles and everything just fine.. I probably wouldn't regret anything if I were you... everything you went through is a testimony of who you are now and what you've achieved as a result.

And your mentioning of Will Smith reminds me of Pursuit of Happiness... what a movie that was!! Now THAT was some serious overcoming obstacles!! I forgot about that movie but need to remember it whenever I have a moment. Lol!

@ WillR, thanks for your uplifting and words as well. I guess I know I'm in the right direction given this isn't the first time I've felt this way. Lol! And yessir, the reason I'm pushing through this is for the lifestyle I want to live, not for myself, but for my wife, our son, and some of the other things I'd like to do with the money if I can manage to reach my financial goals and beyond. So many people have tons of money out there and don't do anything but get drunk and party for everyone else, blow the money away, and then wonder what happened. I'd like to at least do something positive and uplifting with my money when I reach that point.

@ Dave, thanks for the video! And for the kind words... praying from your mouth to God's ears that I am indeed much closer than i think, because the figures aren't exactly showing that right now. LOL!!

@ Legit SEO ... yup, the panda is a blame indeed, but I'm not going to let that panda ruin what i think of pandas in general. lol! Still trying to push forward if I can get through this time restriction hurdle. lol

@ Jojane, Wow, I feel for your juggling as well and can understand the frustrations and stresses of juggling IM or any self business for that matter, and taking care of your child, let alone with health problems. Your story is an inspiration in itself because you still pushed forward and made great of the options you had. I may have to consider looking into the mystery shopping as well, though with all of the spam scam emails about mystery shopping, it's hard to say exactly what seems legit and doesn't. What particular company did you deal with if i may ask?

I'll also keep prayers for you and your son so that you have some relief in the emotional end of things in taking care of him, while still being able to have peace of mind in your offline and online businesses. I know that with your dedication and determination, you'll indeed achieve your goals as well and can dump off that offline job soon and take on your own business completely.

Great moral as well... and I thank you for pointing out that I am a step ahead of most. I guess sometimes I tell myself otherwise when I see that I'm not making strides forward due to spending some money back into my business, but yes, you're right. I need to tell myself that more often instead of only looking at the overall monetary aspect of things.

As far as my wife, trust me, I am very grateful for her and I tell her often. She actually knows it hurts me inside at times because I would want to do much more financially to bring to the table for us than I feel I am now. She's super supportive and I'm forever blessed and thankful for her. God knows how much I love her and appreciate her and how much I want to succeed with my businesses and make "career money" so that I can alleviate her from some of the things she's taken on.

Thanks again for your words and for the PM offer and help as well! Don't be surprised if you see a PM from me. lol. Thanks again, and best of continued success to you as well!

Thank you again for the uplifting and gearing me in the right direction, all of you!

Thanks Mark for that illustrative story, I appreciate it and the moral behind it! Guess after all the swearing, you reached that goal you had set out to get. Lol! Glad that worked out for you!

@ CajunCopy, thanks for the heads up. I have been given some compliments on my writing with the Fiverr gigs I've sorta been dabbling in a bit, so perhaps this may be something I can consider looking into once I outline a schedule of sorts for myself. Thanks for your help and uplifting as well. Not wanting to give up... maybe I won't have to.

@ Nicholasb, Thanks... trust me, I don't want to quit at all and not leaning to that as an option, but bills and child are first priority as well so if push comes to shove... though hoping no pushing and shoving come about. Lol!

@ Premier Plugins, bummer on the refund... yeah, that will always bring a bit of frustration out for sure, but as you did and I can relate, I won't let a refund or two shut me down. Lol! I'm not wanting to shut down at all for that matter.

What you said was also very deep and the scenario you told me about regarding the drowning man is beyond symbolic. Trying and trying harder more so now to keep my head ABOVE water and not below it. Thanks for the info and uplifting as well, I appreciate that!

@ Ben, Thank you for that... and trust me, I am always thanking God every moment I get for everything including and especially what you said.

That by itself has been what's kept me going so far... the accomplishments I've achieved in terms of researching and teaching myself some of the things I've learned about marketing in general that's helped me turn two sales a year into several a month at least.

I tell myself and try to remind myself when I'm feeling frustrated things like that, that I actually did make at least something on Clickbank, that I did at least manage to make some money every month from Adsense, even if it averages to about $50 or so a month, that I've managed to make two merchant sites and sell occasionally from each of them, that I've managed to write two ebooks and sell a few of them throughout the lifetimes of each of the sites, etc.

Thank you Ben for that reminder again, and yes indeed, I am very grateful for the invaluable things I've learned and am still trying to learn more of now as well.

Thanks a lot again Ben for your reply. It really is a solid reminder, and trust, I don't want to give up either and hopefully won't have to.

I agree with that Premier, definitely great to know that there are many in here willing to give uplifting advice, insight, and motivation to not let fellow warriors fall and fail. I'm humbled by all of the responses to my post and I thank each and every one of you for all of your uplifting words!

@ vpunch, Hopefully the Big G leaves your affiliate sites alone and stops trying to slap everyone and their mama lately. They need someone to slap them hard and serious, but don't see that happening anytime soon. lol.

Every time I feel like my marketing is plummeting I just release some stress at the nearest strip club, usually this helps and I will be back on top in no time. I may be there more often if Big G keeps slapping my affiliate sites.

Its already a tough business as we all know, but even more so when you have to carry the burden of 'extra baggage'. You would be surprised how many of us have similar skeletons in their closet, Spiderwire! Without meaning to sound like a therapist here (from from it! lol) you have a wealth of life experience that you could turn into something that could become beautiful blend of inspirational, motivational and financial benefit all round! Don't give up though, seriously! By the sounds of it, you have far too much to share.

I think everyone on this forum has gone through what you are going through at some point in time, and a majority of people on this forum probably experience this feeling every day of their life. I didn't even read all the comments here because there are many long ones. What I would say to you is that you are at the right place. This site is a plethora of knowledge.

Do not give up on your dreams or goals. The very fact that you are here at this site at all, tells me that you are among a very small percentage of people in the world who has an actual idea of how to accomplish their dreams. Do what you have to do until you can do what you want to do. In the meantime, focus on one thing that you can do to get where you want to be.

When you get overwhelmed, just stop - load up your favorite music, close your eyes, and visualize where you want to be in 6 months. See yourself having that success. Write it down. Then every single day, keep a notebook and write down what steps you can take that day to get yourself closer to your goal. Keep your goals simple to begin with. Don't shoot for $1000/week right off the bat. Shoot for $100/week. Once you reach that point, celebrate. Then shoot for $200/week, etc, etc, etc. Anything is possible in the world of IM. You can be broke today and six months from now be making $5000/month.

Consider taking on some partners to work on a project together. I guarantee you there are talented and motivated people here at this forum who are in the same boat as you...guaranteed. Perhaps if you joined forces with two or three other people, you could all work on one project together at the same time until you get it making money.

Don't give up dude. Even if you have to go get a job....still don't give up on this. Also, I recommend reading "Think and Grow Rich". Just read a little bit at a time until you get through it. Re-read if necessary.

I've been there often enough too. I have three kids, with the youngest 3 years old, and it's not easy at all. She doesn't nap anymore, and because the older kids are at school, I'm her only entertainment during the day. It's rough getting enough work time.

One thing I do is try to declare one day each weekend my day to work. The other is for family time. When I do this, my husband handles the kids so that I can get as many hours as possible in on that day. It doesn't work out every weekend, but it's sure wonderful when it does.

It can take a long time to reach your goals. There's nothing wrong with that. It's utterly frustrating and exhausting, but normal. I've been at this for years, but I'm finally at the point where I have a good shot at outearning my husband this year. It's not a guarantee certainly, as I've had plenty of financial ups and downs doing this stuff, but things are looking promising.

Success can happen, but if you give up, that's not where it will happen for you. Keep working at it, even if you have to go back to work. With enough persistence and maybe a little luck, you'll find something that allows you to make the money you're after.

Few days ago I had one the strangest and unluckiest days I remember. Without going
into details I'll just say that nothing seemed to work. Some things happened that have
never happened before, and that I thought were impossible to happen. On every step
I made there was an unforeseen problem.

It was incredibly easy to fall into trap and give up, cry, despair, curse the destiny and whatnot.

Did I do or feel like doing any of those things during that strange day?

    Not For A Single Second.

I have trained myself to accept such things as minor obstacles, as pebbles on the
road if you will, and I don't allow them to stray me from my road. When problem occurs
I consider them a normal thing in life and immediately look for solution. To get to that
point wasn't easy, it wasn't fast, but I feel I'm at the stage where no thing in the world
    could make me quit.

I've been through plenty of similar situations and I've learnt to just keep going even if it means hanging in there by your finger nails. I hope things improve for you soon, but if they don't remember that the experience will make you stronger when you do finally come through it

@ Exel, wow... sorry to hear you had such an off the wall day... hopefully those don't come for you too often at all and that you've made it through that particular one with flying colors as well. I completely understand that obstacles will indeed come, and I've tried my best in tackling them on as well when they do. Guess I had a moment of intense frustration this time around. lol.

@ Paid Surveys, I'm hanging on by my pinky fingers' nails at this time. Lol! I'm sure and have faith and confidence that things will get better... just overwhelming at times when you want to get things done but almost feel like all the odds are stacked against you to do so. When all else seems dismal, I always have my faith in God to lead me through, even if I'm overwhelmed within my own feelings. Thank you for your uplifting words as well... and yes, I am definitely going to learn a lot from my experiences and pursuits, whether I succeed or not (though succeeding is my only desired option Lol)

@ Stephfoster, I completely understand where you're coming from, and I think that's part of what I feel. Granted, I don't expect to make 10k by the end of this month (though the thoughts would be nice and very helpful for finances and bills), but that feeling of trying to get things done and almost feeling like time ran out before you even began is what floored me even further. The thought "how can I succeed if I can barely find the time to get things done or take action?" is what came about, and that's where I got frustrated. Having a child and trying to do IM related stuff is definitely intense, so I can imagine 3 kids as well. I applaud you for your constant strive even with 3 kids. I can imagine the juggling act you have to do, but you do it, and I admire and respect that. I'll definitely continue trying to push ahead.

@ Justin, thanks for the bullet points... they will definitely help keep me focused.

@ brettb, wow.. sorry to hear about the worst adsense day ever. I can't say my adsense is high at all, but even with the $2.00 - $5.00 range I average a day, I understand what you mean when I see those $0.09 days that come out of nowhere. Hoping and dreaming of a day where I can make other websites that will help with making my Adsense look like $2.00 - $5.00 an hour instead of a day. Lol! Hope things have gotten better again since that downward day you had.

@ Spider222, I need to look into that book and finding the time to read it. I've heard a few people say that it's helped them a lot in terms of getting their thoughts together and having a positive attitude that has taken them to great success. I like to think of myself as a positive person as my faith keeps me geared there, but we're all normal and have our days. But I may need to look into that book for added uplifting as well.

I thank you for your compliments and uplifting and suggestions as well. I'm trying my best with the ideas that come to mind, and I guess I just need to see the monetary aspect of things pick up a bit more to give me that added boost.

I am very grateful though indeed nonetheless, as I feel I was beyond Blessed to take my musical talent and make a website out of it geared to rappers and singers needing instrumentals to make some money from it and build relationships from, and the ability to make a "spinoff" site from that and to focus the other site towards those that make instrumentals as well, which has been a surprise and blessing as well.

Now if I can manage to venture into some other sites that will build me some great passive income while I focus on my two main sites, that would be great! Lol! I do need to do more visualizing as you suggested.

Again, thank you all for the uplifting and compliments and help and suggestions! I know it's a bump in the road as there will be others as well, but with a great forum like this full of helpful warriors, and keeping my faith strong and pushing forward, I can succeed.. may take more time than I'd prefer, but I am confident that I can do it... I just need to find the time to make it happen. Guess God heard me too last night as I wound up with three sales in my inbox this morning, a $15 sale, an $18 sale, and a $6 sale. Now if I can make May reflect what April looked like or better, that'll be a nice confidence boost as well! lol

Thanks again to you all!! I more than appreciate it!

Yeah man all of us have been there or at least most of us. I'm sure some guys have that golden touch and become mega stars overnight so I can't speak for everyone but I had a pretty crushing blow financially myself pretty recently. This was back in March so a little over a month or so has passed since then.

I have had some rough hits for a few years so it's not the first time and probably won't be the last time. I never stopped of course and kept plugging along becuz of the little energizer bunny inside of me so I remained optimistic. But what happened is that it just took something out of me. It kinda left a bit of a gaping hole. I felt kind of empty even though I kept going through the motions.

Within the last couple of weeks though my spirits have seemed to pick back up. I am a spiritual person so I live my life a lil differently than those who are non-spiritual and I try not to go there in a business setting when speaking with peers and colleagues and what not.

My outlet was prayer. It always has been. Business is just another part of life. IMO success is a spiritual journey. Life is going to go through ebbs and flows and ups and downs. Everyone goes through it including the rich and the poor. Business is no different. It is a growth process. I use one of Jim Rohn's common analogies. Business is like farming. There are lots of things a farmer has to go through to get a great fall harvest from his crops. Sometimes there are floods, droughts, storms, bugs, disease or what have you. There is the planting season where things may be lean and finally the harvesting season where the fruits are ready to be picked.

I also realized that all or most of the historical success stories were rags to riches stories. If you go back and read what some of these guys had to go through to become hugely successful it's almost scary. There is one story that comes to mind right now for some reason. It's a movie and it's a great movie but I love it because it is an inspiration. The movie is called "Badasss" I think about Melvin Van Peebles and his first independent film. His son Mario van Peebles wrote and directed the film. This is just one film or story that shows what this man had to go through to produce that film. Whew!

That is just one example but there are hundreds more just like that. It's always the same running theme. So this reminded me that I was not alone or unique and was by no means doomed to failure even if it may have felt that way temporarily.

Another thing to remember is that you are self employed and working for yourself. There is no human resource department to go to or meeting with your boss to ask for a raise or to get extra hours or something. Your bosses are your customers now. The money will come in but might not immediately knock on your door.

On a side note I want to mention something about Google. Everyone has their own personal preferences so you do what you do but me personally I can't stand the idea of depending on one website or company for my bread and butter. Google is powerful and we all need them so I am not badmouthing big G. I just don't want to have my livelihood controlled by their whims and algorhythms.

Jay Abraham the big time marketing guru who predates Google or the internet by a few decades always said to have at least four separate and independent or interdependent marketing legs like the legs of a table. It's like going fishing and having four lines in the water rather than one line.

Depending on the niche I like to focus on several different types of marketing campaigns. SEO marketing, relationship marketing, social media marketing and direct sales marketing. Each type of marketing is a different animal with differing behaviors but multiple campaigns not only gives you more control and less dependence but more options and more potential marketing exposure. Offline marketing is another option.

Didn't mean for the post to be this long but once I start running my mouth... well there it goes. But keep your head up man and regroup and refocus. This is IM. Staring at a screen and pecking a keyboard all day can feel a little isolating at times.

Handle your business and feed your family man.

Genycis, you have every reason to throw in the towel. You could convince most people that was the smart, sensible route.

But, every reason can be turned upside down, and be made as incentive to succeed. "That which does not kill you, makes you stronger." When you establish your incredible success story, you will be a magnet that people will want to learn from.

There are tons of stories out there about people who never should have kept on keeping on. They needed to get sensible and work their day job until... But they had a dream and they succeeded wildly, because they would not quit!

@ David, thanks for the pep talk. I'm definitely NOT trying to convince anyone that it is the smart sensible route though as I don't actually want to give up either. LOL! You're right though with the quote, and I've tried to take every negative experience or moment and let it build me stronger. I'll keep pushing forward.

@ Kevin, Thank you for your reply as well, and no problem on the long reply, sometimes I get into a mindset and start typing away myself.

Sorry to hear of your rough hits as well this past March. Hoping that everything has gotten a lot better since then and that it continues to push forward as well.

I completely feel where you're coming from regarding being spiritual as well, and some of the rougher moments of my business pursuits, or just life in general, have ben overcome because of my faith in God, so I feel where you're coming from.

I'm always in prayer, not just for myself or my business pursuits, but just in general. I'm not religious in a manner of speaking, but I have been very spiritual especially since I dodged a hefty bullet back in 1995 from a friend's car accident to which I could've been killed if I had jumped to the front seat as I had wanted to. God spared me a MAJOR bullet with that one, and that day has strengthened my faith in God 10x over.. I already had faith, but something like that will definitely bring you close... it's what I can honestly consider in my life to be the equal of "being saved".

Nice way of putting success... I guess it is a journey indeed. I like the farmer analogy as well, definitely true when you put it into context with business.

I can also see your point regarding most successes being the rags to riches story. I think that's not uncommon because those that either were in 'rags' to begin with, or lost things and landed in 'rags', learned the struggles of being at or near rock bottom, and having those rough moments mold them into appreciating things much more and striving more as well. Whereas (majority of) the trust fund babies who always had mom and dad do everything for them and pay for everything tend to go the opposite route, party, splurge, buy fancy things, and lose all of their money at a younger age, not know what to do with themselves, and take drastic downfalls as a result.

I may have to check out that movie "Badass". My favorite failure to success story so far of those I have seen still has to be "The Pursuit of Happyness". I'm a father of a 2 year old, and I cannot even begin to imagine some of the things he went through taking care of his child while trying to get to where he needed to not for himself, but for his son. Man he had a MAJOR rough patch, but it made him stronger and appreciate everything he gained and earned for his hard work, determination, and accomplishments. I'm still floored each and every time I watch that movie.

Ahhhh, the Big G. Yeah, I never try to rely on all of my eggs in that basket... mainly in part for two reasons: 1) Doing so can crush your dreams if you rely only on them and they get Slap happy and deindex your sites completely, shut down your Adwords (as I managed to get mine), and just overall shut you out. Or 2) The day that the Big G collapses (not sure it'll ever happen but hey, Germany DID topple over too even though they thought they wouldn't back in WW2.) which will basically impact tremendously as well.

I try to rely on Bing PPC, Banner Ads from other sites like BuySellAds, forum marketing, email marketing above all of them, Twitter, Facebook, SEO (though for my niches, it's not the easiest option as there aren't many keyword options... you either go with the major ones that everyone's used, or the minor ones or long tails which you'd be lucky if they even had 100 keyword hits a month) and several other angles. Not easy and that's why the work can be a bit overwhelming at times with so many angles to tackle or try to put work into, whether outsourcing or not. But it'll be worth it if when Pandas and Penguins and Polar Bears (that'll be their next update. LOL) run loose and try to stomp down all of your hard work if you relied on Google's ZOO before their Animal Kingdom wreaks havoc.

Thanks for all of your suggestions and insight though, as I do very much appreciate it. The prayers will get me through along with my undying and everlasting faith in God, even if at times I feel like I'm near forced to throw in the towel. I'll also try to envision the dream to reality a bit more... closing my eyes and imagining seeing my Adsense account at $657.14 or more a month, seeing my Clickbank account with $140.67 or more every week, and ultimately, seeing more sales to where I make $100 or more a day on my instrumentals, another $100 or more a day on my soundkits, another $100 a day from each of my eBooks, and so forth.

Thanks again for all of the kind words, motivations, upliftings, and suggestions and help! It is beyond appreciated and I'm glad that I'm here at the forum... to think, I heard at another membership forum (I won't mention the name) that people gave WF a bad rap, saying that everyone here were nothing but scams and cheats and so forth. I only wish I had joined here sooner instead of paying 3 months of membership for stuff I already knew, and waiting and waiting for stuff that was supposed to be released (the reason I had remained).

Thanks again!! Hope this post motivates anyone else that may be on the brink of feeling like they want to quit or forced to. Don't! Thanks again!

Quitting is not going to help you feel better but only worse. You can't succeed if you quit. I felt like quitting a few times but am so glad that I didn't. I could not imagine where I would be today if I had. Don't quit. This business takes time, a lot of hard work, and determination.

Not to be a wet blanket, but if you're eating through savings, perhaps a job would be appropriate for now? Plenty of us built our business around a full-time job and parenthood. It's not easy, by any means, but your first priority is that little one. I don't see how using up all your savings will be to her benefit.

Your post is decently written and your intelligence shows. I have no doubt that you can build a business that will support you comfortably but it rarely happens as fast as we would like. A job at least will get you steady income as you build it.

This is in no way saying to throw in the towel, but perhaps the road you need to take might be a little more winding than you wish.

In October 2010, my kidneys failed and I went on dialysis. I felt like crap, washed out and used up. Everyone around my at the dialysis center looked washed out and used up. Would have been easy to give up and figure I'm disabled, and that's that...

So I bought a used laptop, and every day, while watching my blood run into a machine, I worked on articles, blog posts, pr submissions, wrote a book for Kindle and Amazon, and build Wordpress sites to support my main site, which had gone dead with the increased grips of the recession.

Last summer my kidneys recovered and I went off dialysis, subsequently lost 60 pounds and completely changed my health habits.

My main commerce site is coming back, and Kindle/Amazon sales are increasing monthly.

I credit internet marketing with keeping me engaged and alive, and spent more than a few sessions browsing the Warrior Forum for inspiration.

Regardless of the obstacles, and how you feel, keep working, and it will get better.

and reinvesting a bit into my sites,
I could be wrong, but it seems as though you are trying to work multiple different models at the same time.

I'd take the one that is making the most money, and drop the effort on the others. Give the one that is doing the best all your attention.

This is my other thought for you as well. You can pay more to outsource more if you are generating some income somewhere else. Think up a longer term goal and how you might need to invest in it, and this alone could inspire you to come up with funds that will generate much more in the future.

If this wasn't an inspirational and motivational story, I don't know what else is. Thank you Zac for that. I've been feeling better since I posted, but still, this story here is truly inspiring and motivating. I wish you the best and continued success not only in your businesses, but especially in your physical and health strides as well! Glad to hear you've been recovering nicely and continue to do so! God Bless you and again, thank you for that post indeed!

@ Exel, I completely agree with you. That story was very inspiring to say the least!!

@ Jill, I am actually focusing on two main sites, both of which are my main money makers, equally having a tie. I've been focusing more on one of my sites a bit more, but given that both of them have climbed up quite well in the few years in terms of building brand name and making me some extra money, I can't let either of those two fall... maybe other ventures. But yes, I do completely understand. And I'll keep quiet on the strip club comment. Hahaha!

@ Cashp0wer, thanks for the continued motivation and support. Trust me, I don't WANT to quit and not really trying to find an excuse or reason TO do so. lol. And I'm still striving where I'm able. Quitting is definitely my very last option. I just felt that I was going through a scenario that I was "forced" to throw in the towel.

@ Tina, thanks for being a wet blanket... that's just what I needed. Lol, only kidding. I completely see your angle as well and I've actually been applying a bit as well, but things aren't as open in NC as one would like.

I actually know a friend who is also still unemployed and she has quite some credentials to tote around on her resume, but the market is slow, and I have to take a job that will provide the money that would be required to put my son in daycare if I did so, as my wife works heavier hours (just her job, not because I'm unemployed) and 3rd shift jobs are also scarce.

I'm not completely eating from savings though as I do have some sales coming through to help a bit with easing that need, and a Google check every couple of months or so from Adsense that is a Blessing as well! Apologies if it came across that way.

It would be nice to reach a point though where I can see consistency and increase, but still, I push on trying to get things rolling.

Thank you for the compliments on my decent post and intelligence. I try my best in terms of my writing. Maybe it's the Pisces in me. Lol! Only kidding. But yes, indeed, my son comes first, and so I've tried dabbling anywhere I can with the timeframe I have. I still push on with faith, knowing that things will work out soon, even if the road is a bit more winding as you had also mentioned.

Thank you all again, as I am more than grateful for every comment and uplifting story and motivational words. A Blessing to have so many of you uplift and motivate, given I don't know any of you at all outside of this forum or post. God Bless you all and thanks again! I'm overwhelmed with gratitude!

Yep been there myself. Never bet your rent money on IM. Keep that regular job and pay the bills. Only spend money you can online to build a business.

I know I have learned the hard way, spent money I should have not for 4 years.

Lost thousands of dollars and only recently in last 2-3 months started making consistent money online.

    Hang in there bro

I see. Daycare is expensive so you perhaps might be just as well off working from home right now, even if your income isn't where you need it to be yet.

I think you need to take a serious look at what you've done so far and focus on the one method that's making you the most money. Get that running smooth and increasing in income before going at a different project.

The hardest part for most is making that first few bucks. You've done that so now you just need to work on scaling your efforts up. Pretty soon, momentum will build and things will start growing faster.

I wish you all the best.

    Dear Genycis,

Everyone here have done a great work lifting up your spirit.

I dont have much to say because everyone have spoken what I might have told you, but let me remind you again if you have forgotten.

Quitters are not Winners and Winners are not Quitters as well. If you quit here, it is very likely that you are going to quit in other fields you may venture into in the nearest future.

So, do not think of quitting at all because the moment the thought comes to the scene, your entire attitude towards success will definitely change!

Wishing you all the best Genycis.

And thanks to all who God have used to lift up your spirit. The good Lord will keep you all from failure and mishap.. Amen.

    Kennedy.
