best graphic creator for ebooks and reports ?

Hi Guys:

Any of us can produce a simple Word document. Most can turn this into a simple PDF. But turning this content into an attractive product (even a free report) requires at least a good looking cover.

My dilemma is whether to try to solve this challenge piecemeal (Kindle formatting software, e cover creator, etc.) or whether to try an all in one solution. The one I have in mind is Product Creator Pro, but I can't find many people with actual experience with this software.

Any comments ?

  • Unless you have a particular reason for wanting to do and create this all yourself, of course, I personally always use someone at Fiverr - Hire people to do things for $5 to have all of this taken care of for me for only 5 bucks. Like I said, if you have different reasons for wanting to do this yourself than this might not be for you, but otherwise $5 is hard to beat.

If you are giving away a free report, I guess it's okay to use something cheap and unprofessional, or that will get you an unprofessional look, such as fiverr or some ecover generator.

BUT, if you are planning to actually sell a ebook or something that you are charging people for, then you had best hire a designer.

What your cover looks like on the outside believe it or not does have an effect on how people will percieve what's on the inside.

You could have crap on the inside, and make it look nice on the outside, which I suggest not doing,

OR you can have high quality on the inside and crap on the outside which I suggest you do not do either,

OR you could have quality on the inside and quality on the outside, which is rare it seems for IM'rs.

Many it seems, just like to cut corners.....trying to save a few bucks instead of putting their best foot forward in every area of their marketing, including packaging.....

Interesting discussion so far---I appreciate these ideas.

I agree that even a report should look as nice as possible---perhaps not to the point of bogging down your overall workflow. That's the attraction of software like PCP or perhaps some of the other ideas presented here.

I'm at the point where I need to look at some samples that these different systems generate. I already know that the Product Creator Pro stuff looks really good.

Then there's the issue of software interface. If software takes more time to learn and use than the give and take with an outsourcer, then it wouldn't be worth it--since saving time and energy would be the whole point. In the recent PCP webinar, they implied that their web-based software was extremely easy to use. I suppose I should just put it to the test with a free trial. I may miss the special offer window---but eliminate guesswork.

I've used fiverr in the past. There are some good gigs out there that make top notch covers. You'll just have to find them. 5$ is a small price to pay really

I have used GIMP software and a 3d template to create covers. I am not good at graphic design by any means but I was able to pull this off. Could the quality be better? Of course, I am only creating free reports though.

Thanks Ronnie---it's quite likely that I will be able to make time to do just that over the weekend.

This decision is slightly complicated by the fact that I just purchased Kinstant Formatter a couple of weeks ago. If I didn't already have that the odds are good that I would have jumped on the Webinar offer. Having part of the solution already makes it a bit less obvious that going for the "all in one" solution is the best thing.

That still leaves no reason to do the free trial of course.

      Thanks for the encouragement.

      Kevin
