My new plan - feedback?

I have a plan, I'd like to get some feedback.

I found a keyword that has a very HIGH competition rate, but gets nearly 40,000 searches a month. It goes without saying, building a site to compete with the established sites that rank for this keyword is well beyond my reach.

However, google insights tells me about 80% of these searches, come from one or two countries that are outside the US. I found a clickbank product that I think would fit the searchers for this keyword quite well.

My plan is to build a landing/presell page for this product and link to it. Then, launch ad adwords campaign for this keyword directed at these two countries. Traffic estimator says I only need to spend $10 a day to be the top listed ad and should get about 40 clicks a day.

What do you think? Anyone tried this before?

havent tried it but i guess that could work - if it´s just 10$ a day why not give it a shot?

Yeah I agree, for the cost of a 500 click solo ad campaign you could run this for 30 days. You'll have spent $300, received about 1200 clicks, hopefully have a few hundred subs added to your list and maybe make some sales. How much is the product that you are selling?

      $50 with a 50% commission

But I can't really afford $300 at the moment. Hopefully, any sales rev will get rolled over into a new ad campaign

I think you've given us about half the info anyone would
need to make a reasonable business decision.

You need to run it long enough to find out how many sales
40 clicks will produce. Then we need to know how many gross
dollars those sales will produce as well as the net commissions
    you'll earn on those sales.

Will that number produce a profit?

Once you know all that you won't need to ask us. Without all
that we can't possibly give you an answer other than give it a
test run of a thousand clicks and see what it produces. Then,
either scale up the traffic, tweak the copy, or abandon the plan
    depending on the results.

So you would need to sell 12 products per month (approximately) to break even. Sounds do-able to me.
I would give it a go, you'll never know until you try. It might be the best decision you've ever made!

The problem here to me seems to be the investment capital you are starting with. If you can't afford a $300 dollar campaign, it might be tough to earn back your investment as quickly as you might need to.

Besides that fact, there is no reason to say this wouldn't work, looks like a solid plan given the limited info you've provided.

Sorry... you posted #5 while I was typing so I didn't see
that you had given the price and commission. Knowing
that, the rest of my answer is the same.. You have to throw
enough traffic at it to find out if it's a profitable plan... no
    other way to find out.

Unfortunately it seems with pay per click advertising you get what you pay for. This is one situation in which you have to spend money to make money. Hopefully anyone on this thread who wants to run a PPC campaign has the minimum funds needed to make a profit.
