You pariticipate in Yahoo Answer, for what?

I would like to know what you take from Yahoo Answer Community.

Some people participate to resolve their questions, some people participate to sell something. And there would be more options for internet marketing, whats yours?

I will pop over there and answer questions to try and build authority on a subject. I do this in hopes of driving targeted traffic to my sites. I make sure that I don't spend an overwhelming amount of my time or focus on answering those questions, just when I feel like it.

I used Yahoo Answers few times to find answers to some very specific questions that
I couldn't find by other means. I always got answers I was looking for, so it's been
great for me for that purpose.

I hear people getting good traffic from Yahoo Answers but I haven't tested it in that way.

HOT TIP - After the latest Google Penguin Update, the google algorithm tend to give more preference to Yahoo answers , because the visitors can resolve their problem and ask their needs and wants through Yahoo answers , so that's why this penguin update gave SPECIAL AUTHORITY over Yahoo answers. The cool part is Now WE(Internet Marketers) CAN exploit this opportunity , Instead of directly promoting your site , You need to PROVIDE little bit of of solution their problem and then promote your site , YOU MAY AMAZE Due to the reaction of the users.

This is interesting but remains to be seen.

I have a high ranking on YA, I think level 4 or 5 now....I used to enjoy just posting answers there for topics/questions I felt qualified in....then got more serious about, but never saw any appreciable traffic.

I stopped using Yahoo answers when I answered someone's question on social media and told them if needed more information they could check out my blog post on the subject. Yahoo banned me for that. No warning and no reprieve. To live is to learn I guess!

    two reasons:

    1. When I need to get answers to questions, when i google them i often find myself clicking on an result on Yahoo Answers.

    2. To drive targeted traffic to one of my niche websites. I will answer questions relevant to my niche. If my answer is liked, I am seen as an authority on the matter and they are more likely to visit my site.

If i tell you I drive thousands of visitors from yahoo asnwers to my site, it won,t be wrong.
My advice is never spam yahoo answers as they ahve a strict spam policy.
Also never make duplicate accounts, where you pose question yourself and then answer.
Also try to login there once in a 4 -5 days as then you can answer most of the questions posted in there.
Also dont spend much time there, just half an hour in 4 - 5 days is okay.
Also dont put link in resource box for every answer as it will be considered as marketing for your sites by yahoo.
Use your links in resource box after 5 -6 answers.
The answer where you will provide your link in resource should be detailed answer and try to make it the best answer as it will drive more traffic to your sites.
The answer without links in resource box can be brief.

I'm curious about Yahoo Answers, and have looked at it a couple of times with the thought of participating.

But someone please tell me where the resource box is. When looking at answers in my niche, I've clicked on the contributor's photo, but after doing several of these, I never see a link to anyone's blog. Then I went through the process of becoming a contributor, but saw nothing that was described as a resource box. Is that the About You box? Do you just put your link there? And even if you do, how does another person access that?

I hope someone will solve this mystery for me!

            Catherine,

Its not about putting links in About You.
When you answer any question in Yahoo, You will see 2 boxes there,

            Box No1. Your answer:
Box No2. What's your source? Share the sites you referenced in your research and give credit

You need to put your site links in the Box No 2; Don't say there that this is your site but because you did some research and you found this answer in that website or more relevant to that site , that is why this site is the source to the above answer.

This way when a visitor searched for a similar term on google, google might display that Yahoo answer, now visitor read these answers and will visit your sites,

but as I said in my previous post, never spam yahoo as they have a zero tolerance policy. Its better to place your link after every 6th answer as this way you will be seen as a researcher and not a spammer.

Also when you think you are putting your link in your answer, Make Sure you provide detailed answer, if its chosen the Best answer by Yahoo community, the visitors coming from Google will have more trust on the best answer and obviously will click on the link you provided.

^^^ This, is just about spot on. Because answers stay in listings they can send traffic to your site indefinitely, what's more you know that traffic is laser targeted.

Don't be in a hurry with YA take time to build up your rep on a variety of subjects, stay away from those in your niche until you want to drop a link a two, go steady with your own links.
Vote up other good answers to increase your points score.
Report any spam or content not fit for children immediately, (remember that could be your kids they get some twisted b8stards on there occasionally)

Yahoo have a lot of features to check out to, including a great bookmarking section.

First, to look for targeted audience and prospects that might drive traffic to your site or get sales in your product. Come to think of it, if you ask someone and have been answered correctly, of course you would be thankful and would trust that person. Same as with yahoo answers!, you build authority.

Answering questions on yahoo is good for back linking. I get around 20-40 clicks per day from the questions I have answered. Always make sure you are honest. "cleverly" post a link to your site in there if you can.

Once you reach level two you can start posting links, and since Google still loves yahoo answers quite a bit, this can help your site rank with a nice clean backlink that you don't have to be worried of being slapped over. Not only that but if the yahoo answer/topic is popular then you can traffic directly from that in itself. I've managed to get many of my answers chosen as the best for questions, which pushes it to the top, and gives you more points. The trick is take the extra time to make all your answers quality.

Yahoo answers can be a pretty solid place for traffic. However, you can very easily get banned if you use it the wrong way.

Basically, I've found that if you answer a ton of non-niche related questions, you can then, on every 5th-10th question, answer a question in your niche and leave a very relevant link (not using the same link in the same week though). Then make sure to vote for yourself as best answer! The more you do this the better the chances that particular question gets ranked high in search and drives traffic to your link.

and.. Here some tips if you want to get traffic from Yahoo answear

    1) Find a Category

Yahoo Answer is categorized, so look for the category which is relevant to your blog’s theme. If you take Lyte Byte for example, it’s related to Computers and Internet. There are so many categories, so obviously you blog will fit into one. Each category also has many subcategories but these are closely related. To have a huge margin, stick to the main category.

    2) Get More Knowledge

Since you are blogging in a particular theme or subject, you must be having a fair idea about the subject even if you are not specialized. Try to read more about your subject and get more knowledge. You can do this in Yahoo answer itself. Read both the questions and answers in your category, so you will know what the nature of question you can expect there is.

    3) Answer with a Link

Look out for questions which you can answer and give a link back to your site for more detail. When you answer, don’t just give a link, answer it in brief but you should convince the reader that by clicking the link he would get more detailed answer. Also giving just a link would look more like a spam and the reader would not trust it. But don’t forget to give the link to your site in the source section. When you give the link, give it to the related post and not to the main page. If the reader gets the answer, he is sure to probe around to see what is this site anyway?

    4) Be the First One to Answer

When you answer a particular question, try to make it as the first one to answer. If others answer to that question, it will be added to the bottom of what you have written. So if you write your answer somewhere in the middle, your effort may be lost in between.

    5) Give the Best Answer

The whole point is to provide the best answer. After the time allotted for each question to be answered, all the answers is set for voting. If your answer is being selected as the best, then your content will make it to the top of all the answers. This will make sure to get a continued traffic from that question. Many people before posting a question, they search if a particular question is already been asked and they are more likely to read the best answer than the other answers.

    6) Be a Top Contributor

Yahoo Answers also gives points for your answers. 2 points for an answer, 10 points for the best answer and 1 point for voting an answer. As your points grow you become the top contributor. When you answer a particular question, you will be shown as a top contributor near your avatar. By this people may trust your words more than others and they are more likely to click your avatar and see what other questions you have answered. This means more traffic to your site.

    7) Workaround a little bit

If you don’t find any questions that you can answer and link to your killer post, then work around a little bit. You write a post in your site, ask your friend to post a question on this, you answer with the link and ask your friend to vote as the best answer. You can also work around a little bit if you have multiple yahoo ids. But note that if others feel suspicious that you are abusing the system they can mark it so and the vote is also multiple voter based, so try to look genuine and not a spam.

    8 ) Lead Generation

Apart from the traffic you get, Yahoo Answer also gives lead generation. If you have ever wondered what to write about in your site, you will never run out of ideas now. As you are browsing to answer questions, you will come across some questions that will interest and you would like to post it in your site. Answer the question in your site and give the link to that post as answer in Yahoo. These are questions asked by a genuine person and there are many people with the similar question, so when you post it in your site there are chances you will receive hits for that post from search engine as well.

    9) Star It

If you want to keep track of all the questions that gives you an idea to post it in your blog, Star them to keep track.

    10) Location based Traffic

If you are looking for a particular geography based traffic, then consider answering questions from Yahoo Answers International. They have many country specific Yahoo Answer sites and they may be more relevant to you if your site is localized.

So, is it worth the time?

All these things may look as if it takes lot of time. But if you look at from the other angle it̢۪s all beneficial. We read lots of feeds to keep us updated with the latest news and development. Following with these questions in Yahoo not only gives the idea of what is the hot topic but also gives an idea of what people are asking about it. This will make your posts to improve in quality and these maybe the exact keywords people maybe using in search engines to find answer. Moreover it̢۪s a continued traffic, as people will be definitely reading these answered questions even after a long time since the question is being asked.

You can also try out and use these similar kind of sites where you answer questions.
