I hope I titled this properly. Anyways, there is a lot of talk about review sites. Basically you find a high converting product which lots of people are looking for. You write a review site on this product, and a few others like it. You place your affiliate links in various places on the site including the reviews. Also on this site you ad good general content related to the product as to look like a information site and that your not just saling a product.

Then you start generating targeted traffic to it with seo'd articles, and other methods. Once the traffic comes people are suppose to see your site, read the reviews of the product their looking for and so on.

Now here is what i've noticed so far. my first site simpleswingreview.com is a really crappy site. It looks real bad. I have included info articles on the side of the site, but hardly anybody looks at them according to google analytics. Anyways, this sit generates me more money then my review site reviewedhealth.com. I've also noticed that many of the other really good affiliate marketers out there just use general copy. Basic a sales copy for the product they are promoting. then the person clicks through over to the product site.

What have many off you noticed. am I just doing something wrong with my review sites, or did I somehow generate better targeted traffic with my other site, or is it just the general copy I have on my first site that gets me the sales.

Oh, and just an update, you'll notice on my site I have list optin forms. They are non-active because I'm pretty strapped for cash right now to keep them activated, but once I can start making enough money off my sites to pay for it I'll activate them again.

Thanks for the advice. Is there anyone else with some more insight. I would like a few different opinions to help me judge what seems best.

Reveiw sites are probably the most popular promotion for specific niches on the internet.

The believable ones are written by those who really do review the actual products. When specific information is given about the sites the credibility increases. Trying to do a reveiw by copying what others have said on their reviews just doesn't seem to work as well.

Look at the best review sites in your niche. Those are the ones that are advertised for everyday for a couple of weeks. Check each day and copy down the urls of the ads and see which ones are there everyday.

then after a week, look at those sites, they've spent the money and continue to spend it so you can learn something from them.

      good luck.

I have not looked at your sites though in general you need to put yourself in the shoes of the buyer and navigate both sites from their perspective. Which site would make you buy?

For myself when I am looking to purchase something I make my decision based off of the sales copy and then I go to the review sites to find out what is wrong with the product. I have ended up purchasing an upgraded version of the original product based off of reviews to save myself the hassles that the lesser models had, bugs poor design etc... That is for a physical product though I also do the same for software to get a over view of stability and any work arounds etc.. that people have discovered.

What I do not like however as a buyer, is the fake review sites that are just there to sell something, I think in the future the FTC will start cracking down on those sites because they mislead the public. Though that is going off on a tangent and seperate from your OP.

My experience is the side by side review sites will trail behind well written sales copy. Review sites do two things for me, they give social proof and assuming the reviews are genuine and not just made up. They also give me a push if I was on the fence to either buy the product or warn me off.

Not sure I helped you but I hope you get something of value from the time I spent to write this.

    Thanks,

    Terry

Thanks you guys have been awsome so far. I can see where the reviews come in, they are the push, the final decision maker. I think so far you can make money from both sites. What do you guys think would be better for an affiliate. Is a sales letter better for saling your product, or is it also good for selling someone elses product. I've seen somebodies sales copy before recommending a product, then I went to the link and saw another sales copy from the original saler. I ended up reading that too, but sometimes I'll just skip to the bottom to buy.

For most buyers though, do they actually research. I think what I'm looking at is that both methods work great. Am I right? Or do you guys think one way works better then the other?

Thanks again for all the advice. Keep it coming.
