Hey Guys,
I'm completely new at Internet Marketing, and have been doing quite a bit of research on it lately. What would you recommend a new person do to get started? I've thought about building a squeeze page and trying to build a list, or maybe starting a bunch of mfa sites. I honestly don't really know which way to go with this, any advice is appreciated.

Building a list and squeeze page is good. Have you done enough research on how to setup them. Also keep looking at these posts and you learn more with the time.

Awesome, thanks for the thread Iulianp. And I've done a bit of research datingworld, the only issue i think would be driving traffic to the site, and initially writing an ebook incentive (could be outsourced i guess). Thanks guys

    • You could set up a small website, choose a niche, and then add quality content. Add some affiliate links and focus on SEO. If it works well, keep adding articles and extend your online business. Create a few blogs related to the content of your website and promote your posts on social media sites.

Good advice. I did exactly that in December, 2011, with some great products to sell. I was also able to locate some related affiliate products on the same site and I've done well with that also. It takes a little while and requires some work but I now know that it will work.

Before you get into anything, whether it's list building or starting a niche site, pick just one method. Don't start a few of things at once and overwhelm yourself.

Sometimes the less you know, the better it is. You won't get information overload and you will get things done.

You don't have learn how to do everything by yourself. Stick to what you are good at. If you don't know how to do something, just outsource it.

For instance, graphics can be time consuming and it might not turn out how you want it to be. Go to Fiverr.com and get your graphics done for only 5 bucks.

Anyways, I hope you enjoy your internet marketing journey and don't give up!

Hi Z0RN, welcome to the forum!

Rather than jumping into any particular niche or methods right now, I would suggest you work through your goals first. Focus on your interests and strengths, visualize yourself 6 months or 12 months from now and what you have accomplished.

Once you have set your goals, set some deadlines and start working backwards to define each step to achieving you goals. Goals help you to stay focused otherwise you will get distracted.

Feel free to ask questions, we are here to support each other as well as I have been in your shoes as well. Good luck!

    • Hello and welcome to the forum. Some good advice has already been given by some of the commentators. Just want to emphasize that whatever you choose to do that you take action, focus and perservere until you succeed. It is not a good idea to keep jumping from one opportunity to another.

It is also a good idea to find yourself a mentor, someone who is already successfull and then just copy what they have done. This way you put proven strategies into action. There is no reason to reinvent the wheel.

      I wish you great success.
      Gerald.

      hey zorn,

ok before doing anything, ask yourself and write this down on some paper or pads, what your goals are? once you have this down then decide how your going to achieve your goals. Once that is done then start looking at how you will begin your journey on IM.

personally pick 1 business model, and stick with it until the end of the project, its easy to get stuck in doing to many models and then becoming frustrated.

personally pick 1 niche, and start building a list in that niche. set up a squeeze page/landing page, auto responder, free give away. and various traffic methods to get potential customers. good luck, theres plenty of information in this forum and people willing to help you aswell, join the war room that will help you tremoundously with some good free products in there

This is so true. Its just so easy to go from shiny thing to the next shiny thing. There are always going to be challenges - at that point the WF is a great place to ask questions. My best advice would be really decide your model and then see it through.

        • Study the following questions:

          1. What can you sell online? Your own products and your own services. The products and services of others, for commissions. Products can include written guides/tutorials, video courses, desktop software or Web-based software, membership coaching and physical products among others. Services can include posting ads on your sites for income per click, income per action or private ad space rentals, aside from other services, such as website design, Web development, software programming, content writing, copywriting, etc.

          2. What value can you offer? Extensive knowledge in certain subject areas. Extensive first hand experience in certain situations under particular subject areas/niches. Extensive expertise in certain subject areas...

          3. What do people search and purchase online so they can get the value they need? Answer this one, after extensive research and thoughtful analysis...

          4. What do people regularly search and purchase online to give them the value they frequently need? Answer this one, after extensive research and thoughtful analysis...

          5. What are the things you can develop and sell online to regularly give them the value they need, in exchange for value? Answer this one, after extensive research and thoughtful comparative analysis...

          6. How can you show them the value you can offer, more value your site content can offer, better value you can offer to your subscribers, and the best value from your products and service offers? Answer this one and formulate a campaign plan, after extensive research and thoughtful comparative analysis. Remember:

Offer something of value, for the unconditional happiness, health or wealth of your customers. Place that thing inside a box that can make it look even more valuable than how it was wwhen it was still outside the box. Show your prospects the infinite value of what's outside the box and the finite value of what's inside it = The transformational value of what's inside the box. Make them think and feel how much valuable a person who owns the box is, over those who don't. Deliver the transformational value of your offers to your buyers, and let them talk about the value you provided them among themselves and their networks. That's how to run a business, in my opinion, from start to finish...

For me, the easiest way to get started online is through affiliate marketing with Clickbank, because it is free to join and has a great range of good quality products, with high commissions.

    1. Choose your niche and your products
    2. Do keyword research (using free tools) and find some good long tail buyer keywords with relatively low competition
    3. Set up a simple review site optimized for these keywords
    4. Offer a good quality free report on your site & collect subscribers
    5. Write a series of emails giving good value content to your subscribers, but also promoting products they would be interested in.
    6. Drive traffic, through SEO, article marketing, forum posting, blog commenting, etc.

    Rinse and repeat.

Honestly- nobody could really tell you what's the "best way" to go. People make good money doing all kinds of things-

    Affiliate Marketing
    Adsense
    Product creation
    Amazon Kindle
    Services

It basically boils down to what you can focus on and stick with. Learn a few things, pick one that you think you can run with for at least a month, and take action on it.

      Well said Justin!

Zorn there are hundreds of ways one can use to earn or for that matter earn online. But each of them will not necessarily work out for all of us. How much success you or I have with a particular method would be in a big way influenced by the kind of person you are, the time and resource limitations you have, the kind of commitment you want to bring in to your business and many other parameters.

Therefore the first thing that I would advise you to do is relax and take things slow. Browse these forums (you will find a wealth of information in here for FREE!) and have a 30000 ft view of various online business models. Feel free to ask questions, experts here are looking forward to answer your queries. Once you have a fair bit of idea about the various models find something that you feel comfortable with and you feel will fit in to your circumstances. Once you have finalized that start studying it further and most important of all start putting what you study into action.

Nothing is going to change until you put your knowledge into action. Don't worry if you are not making money and failing at things you are trying. This is a phase that most of us go through. It's all a part of the learning curve.

And avoid the newbie mistake of jumping from one shiny money making method to another. That does not work buddy, you need to put in some good ol' fashioned hard work into your business to make it in the world of online marketing.

      To your success

Hey Zorn - I remember when I was a newbie and things seemed so confusing to me. There are so many different ways you can go with this. The best thing is to read and learn and decide on one thing and try it out first to see if it works for you.

A lot of good advice here. I would add this to what has been offered. IM can be
overwhelming at times. Don’t let it be, this is one of the upsides if you let it be an upside.
This is to say it is a downside if you do not maintain focus. The upside being that it is
impossible to implement every strategy you come across. That means 500 people can
start today and it is not likely they will all do the same thing. Consider if they did- it
would just make that thing that much harder. So make a plan and stick to it. Keep your
focus, and have the best of luck.

The biggest thing for newbie's is to align ourselves with a trusted mentor or coach. And one that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Find a mentor and stick with one thing.

Wow, thanks for all the great advice guys! I really appreciate it. I think for my first project Im going to try to build a squeeze page. Problem is though, I don't really have any products to sell. So I was wondering if I were to buy an ebook with resell rights, and promote that as an incentive for their email address, would that work? And for auto responder promotions I could probably do the same, but does anyone know whether physical products work as well as digital does with email lists?
Thanks again for all the advice!
