I have 2 Google News approved Sites, Are They Worth much?

Okay,

So I have 2 Google News Approved sites.

One I want to redevelop, the other I want to sell. Though I'm considering selling both.

Before I consider selling, I want to know, why are these sites seemingly so valuable to some? I get the scheme of posting a lot and ramping up Adsense but is there more detail to this, to get money from it?

And also , as is, just a Google News site.. what are they going for on the market? I've seen them sell on flippa from $2.6k to $4.5k , is $3k a goo medium to sell?

Any other potential profitable tips for using these would be appreciated.

Thanks!

They're worth a lot of Flippa. I've seen them sell for as much as $12,000 on Flippa. If you do sell them, be certain that you maintain the posting new news daily until sold and that you pay the $100 for confidential listing. News sites listed on Flippa without the confidential listing are often delisted from Google News, as well as delisted because the owner is not maintaining at least 5 or more news articles per day.

      Quoted for truth.

Aside from the concerns/tips listed above, you would be amazed at how quickly competing Google news sites will find your listing and report it to Google.

The extra $100 for a confidential listing is absolutely vital.

    wow. that's pretty crazy.

Didn't know competitors were practicing such negative tactics.

I'm not building to sell but interested in how to improve my site and if I do sell, get something for investing my time. Had one of these sites since 2006 I believe.... can't remember off top... But I've had it on GN for like 4 years.

Though right now i do want to sell for a quick pick up. Conflicting thoughts.

If you are going to sell, do not attempt to revamp it or "improve" it. Don't change the monetization either. Just keep up the content and plenty of it. Google News sites are valuable just for being approved GNews sites, especially the one that has been in G News for 4 years.

If you are going to keep it, make changes carefully. GNews is very strict about monetization and if they feel that you are over-commercializing, they will delist it in a heartbeat.

wow. things I definitely did not know. It's personal interest sites.

I'm lost though, on Flipppa, even if it's a private auction.. can't somebody easily discover what your site is?

When you pay the $100 for a confidential listing, the url is not divulged. You also do not use Google News Site in the Title. Be creative but don't divulge that. Bidders will have to sign a non-disclosure to view the url and auction listing. Only approve people who have been active members on Flippa for a good long while ... no newbies and no one without feedback.

  • Have you not tried making money from them yourself first?

If memory serves me well, Suzanne had a Google News guide which included getting your sites accepted into Google News and then monetizing it.

Is that no longer the case Suzanne, or do you still actively promote that guide?

I did and don't sell it now. Google tightened up a great deal ... it used to take a month or less to get into Google news. Now it can be 3-6 months. All that time, you need to be adding tons of new content so only the really dedicated news people are going to sink that kind of effort and money into getting into GNews now.

Like I said, I've seen them go for between $8,000-$12,000 so don't undervalue them, especially the 4 yr old one.
