[Tutorial] How I earned $5,000 with Youtube marketing

About a 2 years ago I started my first video marketing campagne with Youtube and I made about $5,000 with it. It's not a lot if you're planning to buy a house or something, but it's still some decent money with not a lot of effort.

What I did:

1.
I made 16 videos about the same niche. Every video was slightly different. This is necessary because else Youtube will not allow you to upload (because they are all the same).

2.
The next thing I did was thinking of 16 different titles. This is very easy because Youtube shows you suggestions when you type your keyword into the search box. These suggestions are keywords where people search for.

I suggest putting the year (2012 in this case) in the title and and in some titles also the month. A lot of the times people are searching for recent uploaded videos. They will type in the year and sometimes also the month. In this case your video will pop up faster.

3.
Finding the right keywords is the next step. I do the same thing as I did with the titles; just use the searchbox for suggestions and create 4 different keyword groups of 3/4 lines. 4 videos will have keyword group 1, 4 videos will have keyword group 2 and so on.

4.
The last step is to chose different thumbnails. You can choose 1 out of 3 thumbnails. The first 5 videos will have thumbnail 1, the next 5 will have thumbnail 2 and the last 6 videos will have thumbnail 3.

Let's do the math, we have 16 videos with 16 different titles, 4 groups of keywords and 3 different thumbnails. This will drive insane traffic, and traffic will earn you $$$.

Thanks for reading .

What did you drive that traffic to? Where the video selling something specific or promoting a site? Other? How do you feel this method would convert with niches other than your own?

I drove the traffic to my website with affiliate offers, but that's not the point. The point is that you can get very targeted traffic to whatever you want.

The videos were reviews and features of the products I promoted. People searched for that products and I made a video of it. They watched my video, clicked the link in the description and bought the products .

I think it can covert very well because it's very targeted. This can be implanted to almost any niche.

      Good luck!

I agree that YouTube traffic is highly targeted and getting decent amount of views and clicks is relatively easy. I, for example, never resorted to any specific video promotion activities on YouTube or anything; I just basically publish them and let viewers find them based on the title and description, that's all!

    Very Good Post indeed.

You can add forums, articles, podcasts, and slideshare to get even more targeted traffic.

So you earned $5000 over the past 2 years, or $5000 a month?

I used to do $7k a month on youtube with video reviews of hot product launches - also built my list up nicely that way by giving away quality freebies.

Video marketing def has a LOT of potential, but if you've just done $5,000 over 2 years - you can do soooo much better

    Hi

Well done and good strategy. However how did you know the keyword you selected had traffic associated and also did not offer high competition - without using a keyword tool

    cheers

The $5,000 was in 2 years, but that's just from the first niche I did. After that I made some more campaigns.

Congrats with your $7,000 a month, I hope to achieve that some day .

The funny thing is, I don't mind targeting high competition keywords because I make 16 videos and pick a lot of keywords. There's always 1 or 2 videos with the good combination of title and keywords that will get a lot of traffic.

Funny enough I am nearly follwoing the same stratergy but I am doing keyword research as well. I am getting some results and ranking 1 video out of 4 and still going.

I will try your simple method -

I also believe it helps to use annotations and video responses and make it keyword rich

Also saying your keyword a couple of times helps as well

        Again great post!
