What's error occured? Your domain is a parked domain.

it means that your domain is not pointed to your hosting instead pointed to somewhere else for example domain company or parked domain services.

hosted through hostgator, domain through namecheap

I've never had this issue before. how can my domain not be pointed at hostgator?

you can set up your hosting nameserver inside namecheap control panel and wait for domain propagation and sometimes will take 24-48 hours to complete. what is your correct nameserver for your hosting?

You'll need to change the nameserves on your domain. Check the welcome email from hostgator, they'll be in there. Then go to whoever the domain is registered with, and update the nameserver information.

Edit: srry didn't see you last reply. It could be just taking time to update (with Godaddy it can take a few hours, don't know about namecheap.) Other than that, contact them and ask what's up.

Its been roughly an hour or so. I've never really seen it take this long but then again I don't remember actually paying attention the other time I've done this.

should I contact NameCheap or Hostgator on this issue?

When you change the nameservers in Namecheap to your host's nameservers, you often have access pretty quickly ... but there are times when it takes up to 48 hrs for a domain to resolve. There's nothing that your host or Namecheap can do to make that go any faster. If it takes longer than 48 hrs., then contact your host to see what's up.

I'd say give it overnight, and then contact Namecheap as the problem would be on their end.
