100 Unique visitors per day. Should I build list?

Hi,

so I have a site bringing in 80-100 uniques per day. It is in the reverse cell phone look up niche. Im only selling say 1 item per 3 days on average. So I started thinking maybe I should build a list instead of this?

I know this is a shot in the dark but let's say I got 30 opt ins per day. In one month that means I have 900 people on my list. Maybe I could sale amazon products? I know this isn't targeted traffic but I figure everyone shops at amazon and this could work? I have never built a list in this niche because I dont know what to market. I suppose I could also try to sale reverse cell phone lookups through it too? What do you guys think? Thx

    Well i wrote out a response that would of been perfect for your site, but I think it might of been too good. I might have to use the idea myself.

    All I can say is start building your list ASAP.

      Sell your main product... reverse cell phone look up. Setup an auto responder with informative articles relating to reverse phone look up. You can also promote related offers like email look up, family history look up etc.

      Without a list you are leaving serious money on the table my friend.

        I'd definately build one if I was you. Sounds to me as if you already have an autoresponder subscription, so what do you have to lose really, besides a little time. Your broadcasts don't even have to be too closely related to the niche reverse phone lookup since I don't see good potential in this niche for a good long-term relationship with your readers, but I could be wrong here since I never tried out myself. You can also analyse your audience by psychologically reverse-engineering what type of people are using a reverse phone lookup service. A shot in the dark by me: they're rather curious. I've had some great results with doing just what I described before in the past.

          I also have a feeling... I feel you will be pleasantly surprised by the results if you build a list.

          Why don't you try building a list and find out if what you feel is right. You just need to invest some time and there is nothing to lose.

      You're getting good amount of traffic, Visit Clickbank or Commissionjunction marketplace and select the product related to your list niche and promote them. I am pretty much sure you're going to make good money.

    Why not. It shouldn't hurt you building a list. In fact, it could even expand your online business further.

    If you decide to build an email list, i recommend signing up at aweber. Its very easy to use.
    The first month should only cost you a dollar.

    That is a little too optimistic.

    If you can convert 10% of your visitors into subscribers you are very good.

    Yes, you can get 30% or more with a good squeeze page but you have to be very clever to get search engine traffic to a squeeze page.

    If you are only getting 1 visitor per day you should be building a list. Get on it man, by building a list you'll be able to start the process of converting the one time visitor into long time customer.

    You should definitely build your list. This is the only way to have long term IM success.

    You can sell virtually anything to do with cell phone.

    You are leaving too much on the table, man. The sky is the limit.

    Build your list first, then think about how to monetize it as you go along.

      Building a list of people's email addresses when they come to your site and opt-in for a free gift. You have seen it before, you're most likely already on somebodies list.

      Basically the whole purpose is to gather people's email address for future marketing.

      The best way to go about it is to offer them a report in exchange of their email address.

      This is the most profitable IM business model if you want long term sustainable IM success.

      Think about it, when visitors first land on your site, they are "strangers" and they are skeptical because they don't know you.

      When you give them a free report in exchange for their name and email, they will trust you more because they perceive you as a giver and not a taker.

      After that, you can send them useful information, build relationship with them and turn them into "prospects".

      Once they trust you, it is much easier to sell to them and you can turn them into "buyers".

      Eventually some will become "long term customers" and you can sell to them over and over again.

      Think big, think long term - build a list!

    Even if you have 100 unique visitors a day it doesn't mean that all of them are your customers

    Some people suggest that you shouldn't start placing adsense ads on your site if you get less than 150 a day

    I would say: if that isn't targeted traffic you are getting, then 1 sale in 3 days is a GOOD indicator that your sales page is fine

    You can easily come up with some brainstorming ideas that are closely related to your site.

    You could use Quantcast to see what the demographics are of the kind of people who are visiting these kinds of sites like yours.

    just type the url of the big gun sites into Quantcast and it will give you the age, sex, other sites they visit etc. So now you have this information, you can then develop a relationship with that list through what you found at Quantcast.

    Hope this helps you think of some ideas.

    Build your list! You can always swap it, use it in many types of niches. How about the relationship niche? A lot of women look up phone numbers that are Single to find out who is calling them from their dating life! This is definitely an asset that could bring much later on. Besides, if you had a follow-up email series, your sales would probably be more consistent! Just sayin' Build your list!!!

      I agree with this, I started building a list a few days ago, when I should have started a month ago!

      Note: 30 list sign ups a day is hard! I am lucky if I get one a day! Then again, I only have two sites actively running at the moment.

    Some good advice here. It shouldn't take long to setup your site to start building a list and once it's done, its done. Set your autoresponder to send out some emails over the first few days talking about reasons why reverse cellphone lookup is a good thing and plug your main product each time. Do a series of 8 emails, one a day after they signup. Reason 1, reason 2 etc..

    Even if you only get one more sale, isn't it worth it?

    Yes, I would build a list. At first in my IM career list building wasn't always as high on my list either as sometimes it seemed like it would be difficult to monetize, but having interested people to email to will have a positive impact on your business in the long run. Once you have the list, ideas to monetize will start to come to you.

    The simple way to look at it is if you dont build a list you stay where you are which is OK

    If you DO build a list you have paying customers you can sell again and again via your list. The bigger and responsive the list then you can really escalate your proifits. Yes build a list and good luck!

    He definitely needs to change his thinking or get a job and give up IM.

    Of course he should build a list!

    That's what marketing online is building a list and selling over and over to that list things that need and will help them.
