Show Amazon Affiliate link using visitor location

Hello warriors,

I have started working on an Amazon affiliate website and would like to show the user an Amazon link, but from their local Amazon.

I am aware of Amazon Affiliate Link Localizer plugin, but that plugin isn't very effective. I have run some tests and that plugin only changes the .com/.co.uk/.ca extension + adds relevant affiliate tag, but it keeps the same product number regardless of what extension used.

The problem with this is that by keeping the same product number a is that a lot of the time the .com product number when literally used on the .co.uk site for example, takes you to an "unofficial" Amazon page that sells that product, as opposed to the main Amazon selling page, so:

1- The "unofficial" page only has one third party seller who is much more expensive than Amazon is on another page of the same product, and the user gets put off by this price. Without mentioning the expensive delivery costs (no free Amazon shipping option)
2- Much less amount of reviews than the official Amazon product page
3- Often much less product information and images than the official Amazon product page.

What I am after is something that can allow me to identify the visitors location and then change all the links I mark in the post to the appropriate local Amazon link. BUT, that I manually input the different options, i.e I find the products manually on each Amazon I want to target and put them in, and then the appropriate one gets fed in depending on the visitor.

Does anyone know of any plugins out there that allow for this?

Thanks in advance to all contributions.

Oh and also I forgot to mention, that the Amazon Affiliate localizer plugin also transform EVERY single amazon link you put on your site. So if you reference another user review and give them a link to that review, if that review is from amazon.com, the link breaks as the link isn't valid for .co.uk...

I haven't tried this myself but have you tried Amazon Link Localizer by Gaz Cooper? It is an Amazon Geo-targeting and redirection WP plugin, the site address is amzlinklocalizer dot com. Gaz is also a Warrior member.

I ran into that same problem a while back with the same plugin because Amazon doesn't always uses the ASIN between stores.

The only solution I can think of - and I haven't tested it - would be to generate *search* links to the products, instead of using the product ID. A search for "Samsung Galaxy S II" for example should turn up the same product in both the U.S and UK stores.

I have never noticed that on my Amazon Link Localizer sites. I will have to check that out.
