This is what I want to do with Youtube... Will it work?

Basically, I'm looking to build my list up and obviously, in order to do so, I need traffic to my squeeze pages.

Now, what I was thinking of doing, was getting say 50 videos up on youtube, and having 10,000 views drip fed to them over a week so that they rank high when people search and so they look incredibly popular. (c/o Fiverr)

It's as simple as that.

Link to the squeeze page in the description.

They click. Sign up. Done.

With it work?

YouTube has been methodical about removing accounts that do what you're considering, especially in the MMO niche.

Additionally, your competitors may get the itch to flag your videos and you can guess what that will lead to.

You can test it, just be sure you have back-up copies of your videos. Some folks have lost hundreds of videos with thousands of views and somehow can't find their back-ups. How that happens is beyond me, but they come here and complain about it just the same.

Haha. I won't be complaining about losing Videos. I'm not stupid enough to create them, upload then delete from my computer entirely.

The niche I am promoting is not in MMO. They're very specific videos. Like a video about... "Cleaning your Car's Interior Mirror" (it's not that, just that's my example of how specific they are). And each video is different, targeting something different etc.

So HOPEFULLY Youtube won't be too suspicious.

Have you gotten traffic from Youtube yourself Bill?

Where I find YT shines is in getting ranked for keywords/phrases.

I do a lot of artsy-fartsy videos using 3D software that I play around with.

But in some of the niches I'm in I do more conventional style videos and they tend to rank well for the long tail.

If your videos are outside the MMO niche (all of mine are) I would test your strategy if it didn't take selling the ranch to do it. There's no jail time if YT busts you, you just want to make sure it doesn't take down your whole marketing funnel if it goes kablooey.

And if you're not outsourcing the videos to someone who disappears 18 months down the road with your catalog you should be fine there, as well. But it is astonishing how a year later and another 100 videos tends to make going back and putting a catalog back together a real pain. Which means keep your files in very good order and easy to find. It's actually harder than it sounds without a good system in place.

It seems like a very strange thing you are proposing to do -- a scheme to fool the visitors to your videos and to attempt evasion from the moderators at Youtube.

What if you were to come up with a legitimate way to accomplish your goal? Wouldn't that be better? Is it possible?

    Hi manicmethods,

listbuilding using youtube and this is definitely one method you could do.
But honestly you don't need to drive views using fiverr or anything, you'll naturally get trickled down traffic from these videos.

But for your videos to not get banned, your videos should add value to youtube and not just some random spammy videos.

You can go the spammy route but your youtube account wont last.

I would imagine that your videos would definitely need to add value in order for people to click through to your squeeze page. Will your videos prompt the viewer at the end to opt-in for X offer?
